Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) placed the blame for the shooting in El Paso, Texas over the weekend squarely on President Trump’s shoulders.

Ah, she’s just saying that because it’s a fact.

Me, too, as you know – but:

Ocasio-Cortez said Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric is “directly responsible for what happened in El Paso."

Indirectly responsible.

Only the shooter himself is directly responsible, unless he’s a robot – and maybe he is practically a robot for Trump, but I have seen no actual evidence to this effect.

“There are so many different issues that are weaving themselves into a braid of violence into our country. One of them is white supremacist terrorism,” she said.

I understand that “white supremacist” is the best term in common use, and that’s why she used it, but I prefer “Neo-Nazi.”

Trump spoke of an “invasion” by “rapists and murderers” who were “infesting” the country.

OK, he didn’t QUITE say “shoot them” but he came pretty close.

Between January and February, President Donald Trump’s Facebook page ran about 2,200 ads referring to immigration as an “invasion.”

Don’t forget the Florida rally where the supporter yelled “shoot them” and he laughed and made a joke. To me that shows a sign of approval.

We know FBI Director Wray has identified white suprematism as a major domestic threat on the one hand, but that rank and file FBI agents feel hamstrung from pursuing some of the perpetrators because they (the perpetrators) happen to be strong Trump supporters.

AOC is correct, in my view. These people are domestic terrorists and should be identified as such. But since they are also Trump’s road to re-election, I expect he will do nothing. Democrats should continue to raise this issue loudly because it’s about our values and our safety at this point. And the government’s main job is, after all, to protect its citizenry.

Thank god! We finally have some Democrats saying what needs to be said. Its way past time that we cut the crap, stop pretending that we’re/they’re dealing in good faith and start calling Republicans on their Bullshit. Video Games, mental health, thoughts and prayers…its all bullshit designed to avoid having to deal with the issue of guns.

She can be so refreshing some days. In the Mary Tyler Moore days Lou Grant would’ve said, “You’ve got spunk”. Today though, AOC is just like a breath of fresh air, speaking truth to power, just like her constituents voted her into Congress to do.

The Dem campaign ads need to put the words from Trump’s tweets and the thousands of Trump campaign Facebook ads citing “invasion” next to the El Paso shooter’s words in his “manifesto”. Side by side, word for word, along with the Christchurch shooter"s and pipe bomber Ceser Sayoc’s defense attorneys words.

If I were ever to get pied, I am partial to lemon meringue, blueberry, pumpkin.

I note that the Spanish media regularly refers to Real Madrid as Los Merengue, which means their white uniform is what is on top of lemon meringue pie.

No other Democrats have spoken on this issue before? I don’t think so.

O’Rourke:

“The only modern Western democracy that I can think of that has said anything close to this is the Third Reich, Nazi Germany. Talking about human beings as though they are animals, making them sub-human, to make it OK to put their kids in cages. We’ve lost seven children in our custody over the last year in this, the wealthiest, the most powerful country on the face of the planet.”

Not sure the Third Reich was a “modern Western democracy” – but I do agree with the rest.
