Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) delivered a passionate rebuke Thursday of the vicious language levied against her by Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL), who was overheard calling the New York lawmaker a “fucking bitch” after a confrontation on the Capitol earlier this week.
This and the Hit Job On Hillary should be the final nail in the Good Old Boys’ Reign of Error.
And, as a male, it’s a little more selfish than it may appear. This being a country averse to the tenets of modernity, female political empowerment appears to me to be in my own self-interest.
I am continually impressed with her intellect and her aptitude for strategy. She often frames things in a way I don’t expect and then nearly always end up agreeing with her. This being one of those cases. Keep it up, please, AOC.
I will have to admit, I was not initially such an aoc fan. But she displays more and more political skill by the day, and is just owning the small dick old fat balding Republican Floridian.
It will not stop Ted incel Yoo-hoo, but it will cause the republicans to treat her more carefully next time.
Absolutely on point…the politics of destruction that started with Gingrich have turned into a religious war for Republicans, who think anything is allowed because they view their opponents, and the Americans who don’t vote Republican, as the enemy. We’re all Americans, it’s fine if we disagree on policy but we shouldn’t stoop to character assassination just because of that.
AOC continues to show why she won her seat, and why she will stay around for a long while…she has a singular voice, one that comes from the people and not from the interests of the wealthy, and it’s something the Democrats seems to slowly be building around. She’s also maturing and figuring out how to get things done while still putting ideas out there.
ETA: Oh, one other thing…if you haven’t seen her whole speech today go watch it. It’s pretty masterful, both the words and how she presents them. And, she literally says “fucking bitch” during the speech while attributing it to Yoho…I have no doubt that she dangled a hook there for Republicans to go off about her “disrespect of the House chamber!”, and is just waiting for someone to spout off about it. I’ve never seen or heard of those words being used on the House floor before; the way she used them to show how society disrespects women is really great.
The way she speaks out and calls them out is why the GOP males have absolutely no idea how to “handle” her. They don’t know what to do when a woman won’t submit.
She is a genius political communicator. There is no other word for it. I think she might be even better than Obama and Clinton. I don’t know how to compare her to Reagan because he got so much more help. And if she stays in political life for another 50 years? She’ll approach Churchill levels.
She has mastered the technique of defusing/reversing her opponent’s strengths–she doesn’t just go after their obvious weaknesses. We’ve complained for years that the right wing does this but the left could never figure it out–she’s figured it out.
What a great speaker - and thinker - she is! This should be in textbooks explaining how small aggressions are part of a larger picture, and should not be tolerated.
Then drawing in Cheetolini’s behavior, the cherry on top!
Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks expanded on a pair of tweets she posted within hours of Yoho’s remarks, firing back at the congressman for “refusing responsibility,” after the Florida lawmaker had made gestures at an apology on Wednesday.
