Anti-Mask AK GOPer Now Must Drive Hundreds Of Miles Then Take Ferry To Capital After Flight Ban

Alaska state Sen. Lora Reinbold (R) had no choice but to drive for more than 13 hours and then take a ferry on Sunday to get to the state’s legislature in Juneau after Alaska Airlines banned her for flouting its mask requirement.

I hope she never gets reinstated. May she never fly out of Alaska again.

Wouldn’t it have been easier to just put the stupid mask on?

The result will be that some, er, supporter, who definitely does not have business before the lege, will fly her back and forth in their private plane. “Hey, I was going to Juneau anyways, so why not give her a lift? All 17 times.”

It is a federal mandate for crying out loud. All airlines are supposed to be enforcing it.

I think the mandate expires May 11. I hope it is extended. I am afraid all of the scofflaws who refused to comply and got suspended by the airlines will be reinstated if the mandate expires.

and if so…I hope she gets taxed on it!

Well at least she didn’t have to wear a mask for the car ride.

ETA: but hey, she worked very hard at insuring she can’t do anything useful for Alaskans any time soon.

The woman is a prime example of stupid, insisting on behavior that harms both others and herself, with no benefit to society generally as well as her constituents more specifically; i.e., 3rd law of stupidity.

Everyone’s first thought. I also wondered what the husband thought, hour after hour, rolling down the highway on a trip that would have been entirely unnecessary if she had put the stupid mask on.

It’s like all Trump had to do was say the word and a largish swathe of the population suddenly became militantly stupid on a matter of life and death.

“I am keenly aware of the monopoly in air transport to Juneau that needs reviewed!”

I can hear the airline’s owners laughing at your empty threat from here.

It is so GOP to imagine they can compel other airlines to start flying new routes because freedom

Hat Tip to Alaska Airlines for sticking to their guns and not being bullied.

“claimed in a Facebook post on Saturday that she was “reasonable” with “all Alaska Airlines employees” and decried the airline for talking to the media about the suspension.”

I’m sure she was not going to mention anything at all about her excursion to the media. Of course she thinks she is reasonable too.
I thought Canada wasn’t letting Americans in right now.

LOL. Actions have consequences, right Karen? This is sweet.

He had to drive back as well. Think he will go back to pick her up?

People here are being real jerks about this.

What did the poor ferry people do that they have to put up with her now?

They aren’t, but I think there’s an exception for alaskans transiting from alaska to alaska: “Please don’t step out of the car, sir.”
