I think the thing that made 1975 OK was the end of the Vietnam war. That was a victory by the American people over a rapacious military industrial complex and cowardly government. I don’t think we’ll see that kind of unification again.

Just wait…once SCOTUS ok’s this nonsense there will be a whole slew of shit they try to regulate in similar fashion, starting with prohibiting people who moved to their red state from a blue state from voting. I don’t work with the law. Thank God. I do with with disease and there’s a group of miladies we call “self limiting”. Perhaps this Court is a legal example of self limiting. For now they’ll go balls to the wall giving the GOP all it wants but at some point ( seems to already be starting ) their reps will be so bad that rehabbing themselves for posterity will be their primary concern. I can’t see Roberts being happy with “worst and most partisan Court in modern history” on his epitaph.

You misunderestimate their devotion to the Federalist Society cause and their desperation to prevent its collapse. You may also misunderestimate their personal greed. There is no way one of them won’t grab the $50 million prize for being the first asshole to retire, and then it will be a full-on scramble to grab the $40MM, $30MM, $25MM, etc. for the rest of the assholes to go the fuck away.
And the Supreme Court Retirement And Pension (SCRAP) Act could be enacted via reconciliation. 50 votes plus Kamala Harris. Do it and be heroes.
