Another Partisan Election Probe Takes Shape, This Time In Wisconsin | Talking Points Memo

Three retired cops will be paid $3,200 a month for three months to investigate “potential irregularities and/or illegalities” in the 2020 presidential election in Wisconsin, the Associated Press reported Thursday based on contracts it obtained. It’s just the latest partisan probe into GOP-fueled claims of fraud in the last election.

Ah, the grift that keeps on gifting. Wingnut hacks in WI want a piece of that action. Make some cash while sowing doubt and creating chaos. It will cost the taxpayer most likely, and the doubt and chaos are mainly in the minds of republicant voters, and some of them may sit out the next election, but that’s A-OK.

It’s like wanting to wear a coonskin cap too (in 1955).

Imitation by kids.

Shall we make odds on whether these guys discover “irregularities” with the vote? This is Calvinball.

Fortunately, the numbskull fascists are about to get a rude awakening, thanks to the sweeping vote reform legislation Congress is about to pass. Oh, right. Nevermind.

"The probe was initiated by the speaker of the Wisconsin state assembly, Robin Vos ®, who told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel last month that he was hiring “professional investigators” and an attorney to oversee them. Two days later, after he confirmed the name of one of the investigators — retired Milwaukee police detective Mike Sandvick — Vos acknowledged, “He’s been active in the Republican Party.”

That was putting it lightly: The AP noted then that Sandvick had previously worked on a GOP “election integrity” committee and had even served briefly as state director of “True the Vote,” operatives for which discussed stationing retired police and military at polling places in 2020."

See these fuckers can be transparent when they want to.

Let me guess, a white Milwaukee wingnut, and two white elderly rural deputies.

Yep, folks, this Robin Vos - who assured everyone it was perfectly safe to vote.

I just did the math on this gig.

If they work 160 hours a month, which is nothing more than a 40 hour work week, they’re getting $ 20 an hour.

Such a deal. For the GQP. For the cops, not so much.

I’m willing to make book on whether or not they wind up answering questions about their investigation as defendants in a court of law.
There’s at least some probability of my losing in that event.

So, the cost to subvert democracy and commit treason is $9,600. Great got it. Nothing like a meathead cop to negotiate for just enough to fix his boat or pay off his mistress.

Of course they will. There’s no one in this world more stupidly obedient than a cop. These three bone heads will of course find whatever you want them to find. And if they don’t? Fuck it. Plant it.

It would be ok if that’s the main result, but they’re also using the chaos to push through voter suppression laws they hope will discourage or prevent democrats from voting, and laws to give themselves the power to overturn votes where dems show up anyway.

I guessing they won’t be looking into Chicago Republicans who falsely registered to vote at their vacation properties in Lake Geneva, The Dells, Eagle River, Hayward, Minocqua, etc.

And who probably pay 75%+of the property tax load in the north woods of Wisconsin, but still have to buy outrageously priced “out-of-state” fishing licenses.

Don’t get me started…

Not to mention the dizzying matrix of size, season date, and daily and total bag limits, for each lake and each species.
