Another House GOPer Announced His Retirement On Wednesday: Sensenbrenner

Just hours after Rep. Bill Flores (R-TX) announced he won’t seek reelection on Wednesday, Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) did the same.

Alright, Wisconsinites, can this one be turned?

While the number of House Republican retirements appears to be escalating in recent weeks, the majority of those exits are in reliably red districts.

Come 2021, I think we’ll find that some of those districts are not reliably red as everyone thinks they are.

It sucks being in the minority, doesn’t it? This is especially true when you don’t have anything constructive to offer.

Another great retirement:

Jo Johnson, brother of Boris Johnson, to stand down – live news

PM’s brother cites ‘unresolvable tension’ between ‘family loyalty and the national interest’ as he announces he will resign as MP and minister

He voted to “remain” in the public vote, but most of the other Conservative party members opposing Boris Johnson’s tactics are in favor of Brexit, but not in favor of doing so without negotiated terms and not in favor of wrecking norms to crash out of the EU.

Hope so. I have exceptional respect for TPM’s newswriters (and reporters, and editors–though front-page headlines continue to present an inexplicable challenge!) and I respect that assignments are given to smart folks who know the back-stories, which aids accurate analysis.

But I still hope we can go into Nov 20 with enough of a wave to destroy the Beltway GOP, root-and-branch.

And take a bunch of governor’s mansions, while we’re at it.

Dropping like flies. Can’t imagine the reason and here’s hoping the Senate will start retreating too. Wait till election time when they have to start explaining to normal people why they have supported and been in lock step with the WH traitor. I’m hoping a lot of them will be in trouble.

They don’t like the way the House treats them as a minority, eh? Who’s fault is that? Newty.

They surely like treating others as minorities, though.

Many people will remember this by election, probably the most momentous in British history…

I am not too worried about the House, the Senate will be close and critical in 2020 and of course, governor’s seats are especially important in 2020 when the districts are redrawn.

OT, but there is already speculation that NC will ratify the ERA if the Dems get control of the Legislature due to the court-ordered redrawing of state districts. Wouldn’t that be a hoot!!! We should also gain 3 or 4 seats if the US House districts are redrawn in a fair manner.

What are the chances trump will want to even stay in office if he loses the House and the Senate? That is just too much shit to deal with for him. I wouldn’t be surprised if it looks like it’s going to go down that way he will resign and go for a Pence pardon and hope that the country won’t put a former president in prison even for state offenses.

Nope, won’t happen. It’s fun being in power. Not so much being in the House minority where you have to start fundraising for your next election the day after you’re sworn in.

I don’t think Letitia James, the NY AG, is going to have much sympathy for Trump. She will be waiting for him with a long list of indictments when he is no longer POTUS.

I’m certain that, in his more lucid moments, that is already his plan. Not least because #MoscowMitch is working every backstage lever he can for exactly this purpose.

He’s 76 years old and has served 21 terms in Congress. It’s entirely possible he’s genuinely ready to retire after having done as much damage as possible. Having said that, with other Rethugs jumping ship, it also seems to be a self fulfilling prophecy for others sitting on the fence about getting out while the getting’s good.

Not my district, but I think anything is possible. I’m waiting for the announcements for the candidates to replace Duffy. Nothing has been said yet and may be waiting for his actual retirement in three weeks.

40 years in Congress. If ever there were an example of why term limits are so desperately needed. He made his entire life around his congressional seat. That nonsense has to stop.

I’m regularly wrong when it comes to politics but I think the country is about as worn out on trump as it can get. He has long coat tails that, hopefully, take out enough Senators to flip the Senate. Supporting this idiot for 4 years can’t be a plus for anyone running in 2020. There isn’t any better proof that your judgement is defective than supporting orange men thru this 4 year carnival ride.

Vacuumed as much cash possible.

It won’t matter why they have supported and been in lock step with the WH traitor if no one ever asks them.

So many of these fools that have resigned (and I’m sure more to come) will never be asked what were they were thinking, because the media are too busy discrediting Joe and coming up with stupid stories to distract from the number of folks who’ve broken their oath of office. No one is challenging that. It needs to be done daily of the GOP and it needs to run on endless loop.

When will they finally ask that question? Stay tuned.
