Another GOPer Grovels Before Trump After Ex-POTUS Made Their Life Miserable | Talking Points Memo

On the heels of former President Trump declaring his loyalty to the GOP and spreading more bogus election fraud claims at CPAC, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) joined a handful of Republicans who faced attacks by Trump in offering unequivocal support of the former president if he secures the Republican Party’s presidential nomination in 2024.

So far beneath contempt, they have to look up to see whale shit.

Better to be pissed on then shit on, I guess. I’ll never understand the fealty to this man.

The politicians in the GOP find the agenda of corruption by Benadick Donnie irresistible.

Shocking Wot!
They’re going to be pretty disappointed when the Crazy maxes out at about 40% of the vote .
Not to mention the "sensible candidates who get primaried by batshit crazy Q-Republicans .

My only hope is that Trump’s shtick gets old, and that when he tries to go for another spin in 2023 R voters are just so weary of it all that they put him to pasture. Mind you, I’m not expecting it - just hoping.

Kemp is more unsettling than the others for me, because Trump has pending criminal investigations in that state. I’m assuming now that those will not get any traction. If we’re lucky maybe GA will flip blue and the statute of limitations hasn’t passed.

“Absolutely, I’m going to support the nominee,” Kemp said, when asked whether he’d back a Trump 2024 presidential run. “As I said, again, I worked very hard for the president. I think his ideas will be part of our party for a long time in the future.”

What ideas?

Once you grovel. You are a groveler. It becomes your calling card.

When Mickey gets the 2024 GOP Prex Nomination I will support him wholeheartedly.

Efforts are being made to allow the age of eligibility to be adjusted to make mice candidacies viable.

The Republican Party has become one big S and M club full of bondage and discipline. What a mess!

“Mice candidates viable”

Shrewd move.

Oh, he had lots of them, but at the core it was the idea of the Imperial Presidency. Everything else flows from that. The President is above the law, not beholden in any way to Congress. The DOJ is there only to protect him, and nepotism feeds the bank accounts of his kids. It’s good to be the King. Nothing else really mattered to him.

Republicans have no ideas either, they set fire to previous ideals like deficit concerns in service to Trump. Now they’re all afraid of the King’s minions who might primary them in their next election. So Trump’s core idea is still active in the GOP.

You have to be capable of thinking to have ideas. Trump is a walking id.

OT, but as I said, GQP Trump KKKult is “reopening” to deliberately create a COVID spike and then try to blame it on illegal immigration of brown people…

They are literally trying to cause disease and death they plan to use for white supremacist messaging.

Authoritarians sure are some odd motherfuckers.

Every one of his “ideas” could be traced to some dysfunctional aspect of his psyche.

I think you’re right. His crazies will never give up, but I really believe that even somewhat normal people are tired of him already.

I’m starting to tire of the “Republican politicians are scared of Trump so they grovel and do his bidding” narrative. There is zero evidence that any Republicans aside from the tiny handful of 2016-era Never Trumpers don’t genuinely love Trump, his policies and what he stands for. Kemp isn’t sucking up to Trump because he has to—he’s sucking up to Trump for the same reason he always has—he 100% supports Trump in all his racist, fascist, lib-owning glory and always will. If Trump starts wearing a KKK hood then Kemp will gladly wear one, too. Not out of fear, out of love of authoritarianism, love of power at any cost. So what if his Dear Leader said something mean about him? Catholics don’t leave the church because they get rebuked by the Pope; they just pray they aren’t excommunicated.
