Joe was/is old. He was/is no longer as sharp as needed. He hinted in 20 that he was a one termer. He should have heeded that hint.

SO OF course Schumer and Jeffries will likely use this as a cudgel to get Democrats to pass a budget before the deadline. I HOPE that’s not true, but past practices point to this.

Meanwhile Bracy Davis, who previously represented House District 40 in the state legislature, won Senate District 15 with 73 percent of the vote. Sixty-one percent of voters went for Harris there in November

It’s good news for turnout, but those are +Dem districts to begin with. Both went for Harris in 2024. Not sure it means anything for the midterms or the upcoming election for Governor, with a million more registered R’s in the state than registered Dems. A lot will depend on the Latino vote, and whether or not they’re sufficiently alienated by Trump’s immigration crackdown.

If we had a functioning Congress, they would put the pocket rescissions back into the new spending bill (on top of whatever else they were going to do), say it had to be spent in the next 3 months, and that the rescission law does not apply to that funding.
Yeah, I’m crazy to even think that would be possible.

No. Better to hope that when he goes (as he must, being human), it’s instantaneous and wholly from natural causes. He must not become a martyr figure–and god help the republic if he goes down by foul means.

Lisa Murkowski is a buffoon. She had a lot of leverage - which she used to negotiate to benefit her state, not the nation, and then she was betrayed by Trump. He burns and screws everyone. Why would this be different, and how could they not see this coming? Anyone with balls and a spine would either switch parties or never let themselves be put in that position ever again, but she has no spine. She’s been turned into a rubber-stamp.
