Another Day, Another Empty Display Of Support For IVF From Republicans

One person needed to block something? Why do I think the phrases ‘Rand Paul’ and ‘shit-eating grin’ are going to feature in the public discourse shortly?

Hey @thunderclapnewman has TN really elected to the state lege a road map in Randy McNally?

Or after 5 years in the freezer, are they required to get their vaccines? Enrolled in school? And if they’re in there for 6 decades, are they eligible for Social Security? Inquiring minds, and all.

I think he’s Lt. Governor now.

We’re watching them trying to avoid dealing with the consequences. Duckworth and Murray are trying to take avoidance off the table.

Yes, but, there’s no evidence to suggest that reactionary congress critters feel any responsibility to abide by promises they make or to act to redress their own complaints.

Of course not. Which makes it a bludgeon to use on them during the election season.

‘Senator <insert name> signed off on a resolution calling on the federal government to protect IVF… then voted against protecting IVF. This November, tell Senator <name> that <state> doesn’t need that kind of two-faced dishonesty and cowardice.’

I’m pretty sure the GOP opposes the Endangered Species Act.

“Republicans have weaponized the appropriations process to launch a full-blown assault on our natural heritage,” said Stephanie Kurose, a senior policy specialist at the Center. “These heartless attacks would strip away lifesaving protections from our most imperiled creatures — from wolves to whales to freshwater mussels. If passed, these bills would put multiple species on a direct path to extinction.”

They don’t want to support IVF.
They don’t want to fund the government.
They don’t want to help Ukraine.
They don’t want to pass border legislation.
They do want to keep getting paid to do nothing.

Nancy Mace, congresswoman, i.e., legislator, submits not a bill but a statement: “All legislators of government should pass laws protecting IVF…Except for me. I’ll submit statements.”

During a press conference announcing their plans Tuesday, Duckworth dared her Republican colleagues to block the bill from advancing to a vote again.

More of this, please!

So do they protest God when 20-25% of pregnancies end in miscarriage? H/T the brilliant David Cross who did an entire riff on God being ‘the greatest abortionist of all time’ on his most recent tour, Worst Daddy in the World, which I, the cool Dad (at least for that evening) took my oldest to see last fall.

At press time, lil Marco Rubio declared: “I don’t like consequences—not one bit.”

Bludgeons only work when you pick them up and bash republicans over the head with them every chance you speak.

Rubio understands the problem. I don’t see how Republicans find their way free of it. They are damned if they support IVF and they are damned if the oppose it. The question is just what is more important to them–a solid base of evangelical Chirstian men or millions of suburban women who are super activated to vote.

Tucker’s relatives must be really old.

I’m almost certain that some of my “relatives” fought at the Battle of Hastings - very probably on the Norman French side.

“Unfortunately, you have to create multiple embryos, and some of those are not used, then you’re now in a quandary.”
– Marco Rubio, 2024

I guess Republicans are just going to have to make government bigger, more powerful, and more intrusive. Oh darn.

Complete The Following

Explain why you decided to get pregnant, the method you planned to use, why the pregnancy didn’t come to term, explain whether or not you wanted it to come to term, describe what you did with the remains, and justify why the State shouldn’t consider you a murderer.

When completed, your form will be evaluated by a conservative-certified, Heritage-approved judge who will explain to you what you were thinking.

Both sides of my family fought in the Revolutionary War. Maternal side for US independence, on the paternal side was a German Hessian.
