House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said what the rest of us (TPM) have been thinking (screaming) for months Tuesday in response to House Republicans’ rejection of Hunter Biden’s offer to publicly testify before the panel.
First rule of the impeachment “inquiry”: Pay no attention to the man in front of the curtain!
Maybe the GOP was afraid one of their members (sic) would raise the issue of the laptop and the dick pics. And in public Biden would say “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours…”

But, as Raskin put it, the move provides further evidence that House Republicans don’t actually believe what they’ve been proclaiming loudly for months — that they have mountains of evidence that justify a Joe Biden impeachment inquiry.

I also thank all Higher Powers for Abbe Lowell, who has vicariously smacked around all Gooper members of whatever that fake committee name is. The Goopers DON’T DARE let Hunter Biden testify without knowing what he’s going to say beforehand.

Quite some time ago, Comer joined the conga line of those Repubs that can only be characterized as stupid beyond belief.
The GOP is practicing ways to waste time and money when dealing with Hunter Biden.
They’ve got nothing, they know it and are just trying to fling enough sh$t to confuse people.

No argument here, but the two are not mutually exclusive.
The republicans certainly do not want to confront Hunter Biden in an open hearing with his competent lawyer sitting right next to him. This play is called “Benghazi 2.0” They are more interested in muddying the waters with innuendo, the tantalizing possibility of blockbuster hearing, ingenuous cryptic sound bites about “mountains of evidence”, conspiracy theories about disappeared smoking gun witnesses, and mumbling about the coverup of the Biden crime family. They want to keep this issue alive through the election much like the zombie Benghazi hearings leading up to 2016 to smear HRC.
Exactly. This is the only reason for Comer’s committee and he knows it: he may be a fool but he knows enough to follow preprogrammed strategy even if he lacks competence to do it well.

They’ve been whining and sniveling, screaming and lying and now that the target says he’ll testify in public, the Republicans are SURE that Hunter Biden is ‘up to something’. You cannot make this crap up.
after sending Hunter Biden a subpoena to appear and testify, Chairman Comer and the Oversight Republicans now reject his offer to appear before the full Committee and the eyes of the world and to answer any questions that they pose?
Same for Trump.
That is, Donald is so angry because he’s so innocent. He demands to be allowed to talk on television. He is chomping at the bit to testify to the truth, but the whole world is trying to block him.
