And strangely enough not a peep about from Fox and the other r/w outlets.
Trump is such a small, petty man.
“Petty” is the word that I kept thinking as well. Almost all of his decisions were not motivated by policy, but by pettiness. He hates Obama, so the GOP used his petty obsession with revenge as a way to get him to sign off on anything they could do that would destroy the work of progressives.
We continue to see it in Congress–delay the stimulus bill, not because they have anything to add to make it better, but because they are angry that they are no longer in control. It reminds me of a line from “Civil Disobedience”. Thoreau says that if we were to "judge “these men wholly by the effects of their actions, and not partly by their intentions, they would deserve to be classed and punished with those mischievous persons who put obstructions on the railroads.”
They’re worse, of course. It might be an apt comparison if he said “people who blow up railroad bridges so that trains plummet into canyons”. They want nothing but discord.
Petty over country.
Grand Old Petty.
His petty hate affecting millions. Not just erasing data but actively discouraging enrollment, attempting legal killshots and then ignoring the pandemic.
Conservatives can debate about the debt but sacrificing health care is part of why they lost over the last 4 years.
Ah, but did any of them compare vampires to ted cruz???
It’s amazing to think how much thought went into performing these acts of sabotage. Someone, or some working group, had to have been tasked with thinking about ways to hobble the ACA surreptitiously, in parallel with the legal actions taken. People knowledgeable about the inner workings of the web-based information and referral services worked in tandem with subject experts to identify keywords and links to omit. There is a similarity between the legal and technical expertise needed to argue against provisions of the ACA in court and the know-how required to sabotage the system, which relies on that expertise to skate on one side of the law and subvert it at the same time.
Yes, and by withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal and intriguing with Israel and the Arab states in the Gulf Trump has created a new arms race in the region that threatens to cost lives.
After Trump withdrew from the agreement in 2018 — without holding a single meeting on the issue with the National Security Council — he began a series of provocative actions against Iran as part of his “maximum pressure” campaign, culminating in the assassination of a top Iranian government official and some Iranian nuclear scientists. After initially exhibiting restraint, Iran announced it would begin abandoning a policy of strict compliance to the nuclear agreement and begin to enrich nuclear material beyond the agreed upon limits. Today, they are much closer to possessing the materials needed to build a bomb.
He also executed massive arms deals with Iran’s regional rivals on an emergency basis, largely side-stepping Congressional oversight and review.
These actions could further destabilize an already volatile region and lead to further bloodshed.
From the Dept of “Let’s Pretend We Didn’t Lose Badly and then Pretend We Would Reverse This”.
Their healthcare saboteur in chief, Seema Verma, or whatever her name was, took particular delight in promoting “skinny” healthcare plans for inclusion on the marketplace even though they did not provide coverage in all the categories specified in the ACA, trying to impose work requirements on Medicaid recipients, zeroing out advertising budgets for the annual open enrollment periods, among other outrages.
In her demeanor and appearance, she looked like someone who enjoys sleeping in a coffin.
OT but we in Pima County AZ are struggling mightily to get our covid vaccinations (I am 71) but in Gila County east of Phoenix they have too much in the way of doses and so instead of sharing they asked the state to open it up to anyone over 18. This began Feb 17th.
I’m pissed off.
I was told repeatedly when my appointment was cancelled that there were “shortages”.
BULLSHIT.
Use the Wayback Machine to check what the HHS website pages looked like pre-January 2017 and then restore the references.
Not HHS’s top priority, but important to get done.
Trump’s policies are petty, they’re petty because Trump is all about Trump,
I wonder how they are going to try and manipulate the J&J vaccine, the one that doesn’t have stringent storage temps?
I glanced at a map if MO the other day showing where the most jabs have been jabbed. To no one’s surprise they were in the small rural counties that very loyal to Governor Parsons.
Trump’s fetid, toxic stain will remain for years.
This report is serious and good but lacking the names of the specific perpetrators (bosses and flunkies). Public shaming is an essential part of righting wrongs like this. The public who paid for these bad acts deserves a list of who did what.
I wonder to whom Jared subcontracted this exemplary example of analytical sabotageanalysis?
Wow! Just Wow! I posted yesterday that Republican governors currently lifting mask mandates are basically motivated not just by the rightful desire to revive the economy, but also to actually prolong covid so as to deny Biden any bragging rights for getting the pandemic under control. I asked myself if I was being paranoid, but reading this report has convinced me that Republicans seek to deny any Democratic administrations credit for actually governing and getting good things done. They actively want to suppress aid initiated by Democrats from functioning. This is not just perverse, it is evil.
If you mean Sharma, she was previously one of Pence’s officials from Indiana.
