The Wyoming Supreme Court knocked down two abortion bans Tuesday — one of which is the nation’s first targeted ban of abortion pills — finding that they violate the state constitution. Specifically, the 4-1 majority found that the laws violated the constitution’s “right of health care access” provision: “Each competent adult shall have the right…
They just can’t help keep from shooting themselves in the dick.
They still need to do that more and hurry up about it.
This is both wonderful and hilarious.
They really should have higher aims.
MAGA Response: :”DOH!”
This is where the “exceptions for rape & incest” bite the Christofacists in the ass. (Of course, not having the exceptions would likely prevent the legislation from getting enacted in the first place in most states.)
The exemption, which allows an abortion simply because conception occurred as a result of incest or a sexual assault, does nothing to further the State’s interest in protecting unborn children and the State does not advance any other compelling interest to justify the exception. Brewer, 18 F.4th at 1214–15, 1245 (the government must show the restriction will achieve its asserted compelling interest). In that regard, the Abortion Laws are underinclusive because they do not protect all unborn children.
Hoist by their own petard.
We need to order some more petards
As I understand it, that’s how Repubs transition.
Yes, we need to send a case of petards to all our other generals.
Seems like that Wyoming law could also be used to go after insurance companies that create coverage networks. I like that Wyoming law.
Thanks AI:
“Courts are the great levelers” means the legal system should provide equality, judging everyone the same regardless of race, wealth, or status, as famously stated by Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird, though the reality often falls short due to human bias, showing courts as an ideal to strive for, not always a perfect reality.
*Personal autonomy? Right to healthcare? Right to make own decisions?
We didn’t mean that women should get those things!!
I think I’ll pass on asking AI if it would be even a greater leveler than the courts due to lack of human bias even though its programmers were human.
It would be fun watching them tie themselves in knots over how to square the idea that personal freedom should apply to everyone, except in the cases where they don’t agree with the choices that people might make, except for the fact that their mission is to force women into horrid lives as chattel and baby makers. No doubt they will soon take another crack at this one…it makes you wonder why the people who live in red states put up with this stuff.
"[The State] did not present evidence showing the restrictions actually protected women’s health when an abortion was necessary to save a woman’s life. Instead, the laws unnecessarily burdened women’s rights to obtain timely life-saving abortions.”

The overwhelming majority of Americans in the United States see it the same way. Why are Republican government representatives getting in the way?
A Democratic vote is free, if you make it.
Well, a really, really big government – you know, one that’s built b-i-g – may find it hard to avoid, if ya know what I mean.
; - )
Hopefully they do that before they breed.
