This is 2026 not 1956, 1966 or even 1986. I don’t believe the red scare will work now as Trump is in power messing everything up. This won’t work much for voters under age 50.

Well, it’s time for D’s to remind people which party’s leader has been moving us toward state ownership of the means of production by taking stakes in various corporations.
And as for that “look at the people Democrats have been nominating” barb aimed at the so-called commies, let’s remind 'em about the various wife-beaters, adulterers, pedophiles, child-endangerers, nepo-babies, liars, criminals and scam artists Republicans have been nominating at all levels of government. It’s not so very difficult to come up with a list that’s much longer than their list.

One word not in today’s Republican dictionary. Altruism. Doing good for no gain is completely alien to them. They do not have the imagination to see the the actual gains, some long term that comes from that concept. There has to be an angle that usually results in money in their pocket.

My job was to collect the linens from the maids, drag it back to my linen room. sort it. count in, then put it on a truck and drag it to another Holiday Inn 8 miles away, because this stupid motel didn’t have a laundry, and drag clean stuff back.

Well, they were successful with their ‘trans scare’ - although few people’s lives are affected by knowing, being related to, or associating with trans people. Yet they’re still braying about bathrooms and girls’ sports.
Yes, communism is a tired old tag, but their social media outreach has proven those kinds can be successful in keeping evil dems out of power and prevent them from transing your son during a break from Muslim Study Hour at school.

It has a hint of desperation as a strategy. Scare tactics instead of saying “Here’s what we’ve done for you, and here’s what we can do next if you vote for us.”
Zero policy proposals because their policies are unpopular. Other than immigration control, and they messed that up by overshooting on enforcement and disruption.

Alas, this resurrected commie threat still has resonance with a portion of the electorate that knows dammit that communism is something bad. Neither this group nor the under 50 crowd could tell the difference between a communist and a Buddhist. Nor fascist for that matter. They have zero idea of what these words mean.

There is one potential bonus in the communist scares, in that it could suppress the non-Mexican Latino vote for Dems. Communism and Socialism are radioactive terms for recently naturalized Latino voters from some parts of Central America, Cuba, and Venezuela.
I’m not sure it’s a deliberate strategy though. More of a side bonus if it works. They’re yelling “Communist!” because it’s all they have to work with; scaring voters instead of pointing to accomplishments in the first two years of Trump 2.0.

Some years ago, an educated Cuban who had fled Castro told me that those Cubans that fled Cuba after Bay of Pigs were Batistianos who did well in Cuba pre-Castro. Commies wanted to strip them of their wealth.
