President-elect Joe Biden on Tuesday at least implicitly rebuked President Trump’s “America First” attitude as the former VP introduced his first Cabinet and administration picks for national security and foreign policy positions.
“Mr. Mayorkas has represented corporations in their times of crisis, often involving parallel civil, criminal, and congressional proceedings and subjects ranging from securities enforcement, consumer protection, and environmental regulation to public corruption, cybersecurity, the False Claims Act, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.”\
Early in his career as a litigator, from 1989 to 1998, Mr. Mayorkas served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Central District of California, specializing in the prosecution of white-collar crime. […]

In 2019, WilmerHale ranked 2nd in The American Lawyer’ s popular “A-List” of the nation’s twenty leading law firms based on revenue per lawyer, pro bono work, associate satisfaction and **diversity.**[10] It ranks as one of the “Best Law Firms to Work For,” one of the law firms with the “Best Compensation Package,” and one of the law firms with the “Best Culture.”[17]The Washington Post ranked WilmerHale as the #1 top workplace in DC in 2019 and noted that the firm “has played a leading role in reimagining what ‘Big Law’ can be.”[18]
In the wake of news articles raising concerns about transactions between Enron and its CFO, Andy Fastow, lawyers from Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering represented a special investigative committee of Enron’s board of directors in an internal investigation into those transactions. The resulting report, known as the “Powers Report,” laid out the facts that have been the predicate for much of the public discussion of Enron since that time.[20]
Similarly, after WorldCom’s announcement that it would have to restate financial statements, the firm represented a special investigative committee of WorldCom’s board of directors in performing an internal investigation into the accounting irregularities. The investigation resulted in a widely covered written report that detailed a variety of accounting issues as well as the role of management and the board of directors.[21]
So yeah, he has worked for “A Big Law” firm, that does “Big” Law for Corps. For a law firm that is known for Pro Bono work, that people like to work for (you think anyone that works for trump is going to make that kind of claim?), that has done internal investigations of t heir clients that have resulted in some ugly truths being revealed publicly. You know that the public discussion of Enron has not been favorable to Enron, their client, right? But they seem to have done their job with integrity. And say what you will about Robert Mueller, I don’t think his ethics and integrity are an issue, just his mental fitness and dexterity for that investigation.
What I want to know who is the official that is going to drag the Trumps and their lackeys to the dungeons and loose the keys. Or better yet who is going to drive the tumbrel.
