The U.S. Ambassador to Australia responded Tuesday to images of two Australian journalists being hit by the police Monday as they cleared the way for President Donald Trump’s photo-op in front of St. John’s Church.
Maybe when countries start to pull their embassies out of the US, for fear of the staff, Susan Collins might just go from ‘deeply concerned’ to a full on ‘harrumph’.
“Freedom of the press is a right Australians and Americans hold dear,” Ambassador Arthur Culvahouse Jr. said in a statement. “We take mistreatment of journalists seriously, as do all who take diplomacy seriously.”
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to protecting journalists and guaranteeing equal justice under law for all,” he added after quoting Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on the importance of a free press.
It’s disconcerting the way these guys lie so effortlessly.
He added, “That’s why we call them derogatory names, call them “Fake!” at every opportunity, and ban any and all of the ones that ask the honest questions.”
That was one of my first thoughts, embassies should be closed and staff recalled. At least the US Ambassador should be ordered to leave and the US embassy ordered closed. Give them 24 hours.

This is more-or-less what black leadership should be doing. Highlighting the humanitarian crisis in the USA on an international stage. They should be petitioning every international body to legally classify the endemic racism of the USA for what it is, human rights violation at the highest levels of government. They were attempting this in the 60’s before they were all assassinated…I know it’s not an easy decision, but this is no longer an American problem. This is a human rights problem and it’s becoming an international crisis, as Australia is showing us right now.
