“ Sabol, however, retreated from his plans of a Swiss getaway upon seeing officers at the airport in Boston, becoming worried that law enforcement was searching for him.”

Sabol might be as stupid as Kevin McCarthy. I said “might.”

Hmm, maybe they should try knocking at nearby houses of existing suspects? Probably not legal, kind of a fishing expedition.

It depends on what’s meant by, “mental illness.” There’s a continuum of vulnerability to disinformation, and it’s only a matter of how perverse and widespread the disinformation becomes before it affects a critical mass that can result in organized destruction. We used to have norms aimed at avoiding that outcome, but it’s almost impossible to maintain broad norms when so many of us now live in isolated information echo chambers whose “norms” exist primarily to maintain the viability of those very chambers.

He’ll probably be even more of a wreck when he gets out, most likely in the grip of aryan nations or something like that.

In court documents obtained by CNN, prosecutors said Jeffrey Sabol briefly returned to his Colorado home after allegedly breaching the Capitol and assaulting two police officers, before traveling to Boston on Jan. 9 with the intention of flying out to Switzerland.

I see two problems with this plan:

  1. Switzerland is generally not accepting travelers from the US. He probably would have not been allowed on the plane.
  1. Switzerland does have a extradition treaty with the US. The places that don’t or wouldn’t voluntarily deport a criminal on the lam are generally places not so friendly for a Trumper.

Anyone who commits insurrection on behalf of Trump is clearly doesn’t have the best judgement. However, this one was so comically bad that its hard to even call it a “plan”.

It’s also interesting that these guys seem to have realized that, yes, they did something wrong and are going to have to pay for it, whatever it turns out to be. And no pardon is forthcoming from the moron who got them all excited and enraged.

Sucks to be them.

Are you thinking not guilty by reason of insanity pleas in court? Because I very much doubt those would fly. Plain crazy, though many of these characters demonstrably are, that is still not the same as legally insane.

They said that Sabol was lied to and was swept up by “things that were said to the crowd of people by people like Roger Stone and Rudy [Giuliani] and the President himself.”

Did they think that up themselves or are reading from a laminated card. “What to say if your client was an insurrectionist”.

White male privilege usually translates as deep discounts or even impunity in legal matters but probably not so much when the entire nation has watched you attempting to murder a law enforcement officer on live television.

Forgot about that. It’s a short list of non-extradition countries that are accepting travellers. Maybe there are some that’ll do it with a 14 day quarantine?

Switzerland does have a extradition treaty with the US.

How was Marc Rich able to hide out there? Grandfathered in? Or did he leave switzerland once the extradition treaty was signed in 1997?

I wouldn’t go that far, most of them are still rationalizing that deep state is out to get the patriot warrriors.

But do they? I think the Swiss would have had no problem giving shelter to John Wayne Gacy, if he had been rich enough.
