All four of the White House officials who are scheduled to appear before House investigators on Monday do not plan to show up to testify, CNN and Politico Playbook reported.

One thing that you would think even radically MAGA Republicans would object to is the degree to which Mr. Trump is diminishing the prerogatives of the Congress. People are now almost routinely ignoring Congressional subpoenas and requests for testimony. Given the seemingly unlimited power of the DOJ to decide upon matters such as Executive Privilege and oversight, you could argue that a single department of the Executive Branch is becoming more powerful than the entire Congress.
It’s fine with me if they don’t show up, as long as I never hear the phrase “rule of law” come out of their mouths or as long as no one in the media allows them to hide under some veil of credibility.
No executive privilege holds if the executive is committing a crime, corruption or any other malfeasance!
If not subpoenaed yet, then chop chop - issue the subpoenas. If already issued, add them to Obstruction of Congress…and FFS, fine them for everyday of delay in compliance - 50k per day or 1% of income, whichever is higher!
Just one more reason that the whole GOP needs to be burnt to the ground in 2020.
Lock. Them. Up. The article should be corrected, btw: all of these no-shows are due to various vague unofficial claims of privilege that have not been adjudicated or even submitted for a court to decide. In no other proceeding ever does it work that way.

These theatrics by any of these tRump toadies in contravention of a subpoena should not go without individual consequences. For those defying Congress…we got your number. You will not elude accountability unscathed. Just remember that.

Is it totally obvious that each of these people would have exonerated Trump. The blocking of their testimony is the work of the Deep State!

Trump will be the all purpose answer to any GOP criticism for at least a generation. Remember this when they “rediscover the rule of law” under the next Dem President and try to claim that Trump was just an anomaly.
Time for contempt charges, both criminal and inherent. And if Barr refuses to enforce, as he surely will, hold him in contempt as well and impeach him too. The attempt to obstruct justice should be rolled into the overall impeachment process–including house Repubs who leak privileged information and sealed witness names. Sometimes a witch really is a witch and do need to be hunted down and dealt with.
The executive branch, including the DoJ, have absolutely ZERO lawful power to decide matters of privilege and immunity. They can argue it, but only the courts get to decide it. Are they trying to evade Marbury, or overturn it? Fat chance Roberts will allow either, since it would diminish his power. Are they prepping for a showdown with the courts, where they intend to defy it if its rulings don’t go their way?
