Alex Pretti’s Killing Has Upended the Right’s Narratives About Government Overreach

This article is part of TPM Cafe, TPM’s home for opinion and news analysis. On a frigid day in late January, more than a dozen masked federal agents surrounded a white ranch house in St. Paul, Minnesota. They entered the home with guns drawn after one busted open the front door with a battering ram;…

What is so very ironic is the fact that ‘white ranchers’ enjoy favored status among conservative knuckleheads, while being some of the biggest welfare queens in the country.

When they get it, they don’t see it as welfare. It is only that when it goes to others.

Ah, the poor Right, wrong again, as usual!

The Democrats need to understand that funding DHS is giving money to the apparatus that Trump intends to use to disrupt the midterms. Chop it off at the knees.

small correction: article lists Jan 6, 2020 as capital insurrection date, but should probably be 2021

“The AP reported that the nearest sex offender listed as living in Thao’s zip code is more than two blocks away, raising the question of why the department thought its targets were living at his address…”
I’m going with the fact the department is run by morons.

I guess I will be more inspired to agree when the Trump administration is required to do more than a few PR moves.

And that means more than just firing a few people and inserting new maga thugs. It means real boundaries to their absurd fascist shoot-and/or-kill-people policies.

Sick and tired of all these lazy, shiftless, uppity rural-staters sucking Uncle Sugar’s teat. Why should hardworking, blue-state taxpayers fund the intergenerational cycle of family-farm welfare and Pink Dependency? They just sit around all day listening to Country-Western on their boom boxes – and spend all their crop-subsidies on pickup trucks, White Claw, and Golden Corral!

Donald Trump is doing more damage to the cause of Second Amendment advocates than any Democrat president ever could have. And while I disagree that Pretti in any way may have deserved to be killed, I am all for the argument that carrying loaded weapons around is a bad idea.

"FBI Director Kash Patel said in a Fox News interview that, “You cannot bring a firearm, loaded, with multiple magazines to any sort of protest that you want.”

So Keystone K$sh is asserting that, prior to summarily executing Mr Pretti, the federal “agents” first disarmed him, verified his gun was loaded, and then checked his person to assure themselves he had “multiple magazines” stashed on him? Seriously?

It looked to me as if one guy snatched Pretti’s sidearm out of its holster seconds before the other two or three federal thugs opened fire on Pretti as he lay on the ground. But maybe it’s just my damned librul eyes.

Oh, and about Senator “Carnival” Cruz – Jon Stewart played an ad for when Cruz was still young, beardless, and had only a single chin, where he demonstrated “how we cook bacon in Texas.” It involved wrapping the strips of bacon around the barrel of a machine gun or semi automatic rifle, letting fly, and then peeling the hot bacon off. Yum.

Life is more dangerous with a gun. For some that is a turn on, but they should take it as a warning.

Analogously, a society with a gun culture is more dangerous for all. And, if a fascist cult embraces that gun culture it should be a warning for all the rest of us.

Yes, as we have seen for decades now in the US. Robert Heinlein with his demented “An armed society is a POLITE society!!” crap was a libertarian idiot. That’s redundant, isn’t it?

Right wingers only believe in gun rights for them. They support a police state with non right wingers being denied weapons.

It’s as plain as day.

Lying sack-of-shit brings his paid sign-holders and lies to the most gullible people in the country - a majority-Trvmp state:

Trump said: “In Minnesota, we’ve taken out thousands of hard criminals, hardened, vicious, horrible criminals “

Trump also targeted Minnesota’s Democratic [U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar,](Rep. Ilhan Omar rushed by man on stage and sprayed with liquid at town hall event | Iowa Public Radio) calling the country of her birth, Somalia, “a disaster.”

“It barely has a government. I don’t think it does,” Trump said. “They’re good at one thing: pirates, but they don’t do that anymore. You know why?

Because they get the same treatment from us as the drug dealers get, boom, boom, boom.”

And yet, given the quotes and most likely the great majority of the rant (er, “speech”), the shamestream media headline says “Trump focuses on economy”. Once again, highlighting the less deranged, teleprompted bit and ignoring the rabid mouth-frothing babble.

Ironically, a few decades back, a media study group (sorry, no link or reference) published a report that concluded that the United States no longer had sufficient actual journalism to support democracy. We’re seeing how that works now.

When I hear appeals for cash from NPR and Iowa Public radio, I am always reminded of when their reporters attended the national Republican convention, and were practically giddy with the enthusiasm that they picked up from the crowd.

Since the RNC and NPR’s reporting, I thought NPR got what they deserved from this administration. They know who these people are. I remembered the hoopla from Pompeo mistreating one of their reporters

Republicans are committing capital felonies to catch illegals committing misdemeanors, legal immigrants committing no crimes and citizens, all to satisfy the radical conservative racist agenda of white domination.
