Most appropriate, given Alex Jones is a genetic default.

Alex Jones shamelessly peddled his blatant lies about Sandy Hook to bolster his viewership and increase the sales of his merchandise. He profited from slander and should be put out of business.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve laughed at Rs defending their beliefs by referencing Alex Jones.

If you can’t recognize that human hemorrhoid as a hustler, there is no hope for you.

While I agree, I also would like Jones charged, tried and convicted for his role in 1/6.
Seemingly, I’m a glutton for justice served in Infowars case.

Sounds like Alex Jones made these parents public figures by lying about them and then claimed he could lie about them because they are public figures.

“…Alex Jones, a well-known media personality…”

They misspelled “toxic sphincter”.

Question to the lawyers in this forum, what could be the reasoning behind Alex Jones losing by default for not submitting requested documents. Hiding assets?

Another person I expect to show up in another country with his bank accounts in proximity.

Alex Jones Loses By Default

So, given the complexities of the defamation issues described in the article, why did he choose to lose by default? Was that a better option than risking discovery?

Alex Jones Loses By Default

means exactly what in term of penalty / punishment / impact to Alex Jones?

is there to be some ginormous financial penalty that is assessed against him - so large that he seeks protection of bankruptcy court all while secretly parking assets in some undisclosed off-shore bit-coin accounts?
This may be a victory on some level - but it rings hollow if the skunk has a way to secure a tunnel out of the mess and is soon to reappear and restart conducting his cruel and ugly antics against the victims of some other tragedy. Alex Jones is a profoundly sick and disturbed individual - who has found ways to monetize abject cruelty!

Next, the judge (or jury?) consider and calculate damages.

I’m getting really sick of these comments that demand real life court cases move at the pace of a 42 minute Law and Order episode.

I’m not one of the lawyers, but my bet is that he’s a fucking coward who can’t even be bothered to stand by his own toxic spew.

I’m OK with the reality of the pace of the process

… it is the instances where the system is rendered impotent that becomes exasperating … and it is particularly vexing when the system is exploited as Trump learned from Roy Cohn - litigate litigate litigate … until the clock runs out … or a nominal settlement can be forced …

it all shares DNA with the fundamentally dishonest transactional operating style that Trumps have employed for generations - -

  • agree to one price … get the job done
  • receive the goods & use them … or what ever
  • bluster in out rage about dissatisfaction with the matter
  • refuse to pay …
  • drag out “negotiations” (in bad faith) … killing the finances of the vendor/ provider & costing them legal fees … eating up their time
  • offer some tiny sum - take it or leave it …
  • then only pay half of the “tiny sum”

… in this Alex Jones case - if he only get s a monetary penalty - and if he can somehow escape to somehow fiscally re-invent himself - like some discount furniture company from years ago - that was perpetually "going out of business - bankruptcy sale " and thus just continues on - then it is exasperating.

And greedy. His activities surround his ability to monetize his words and behavior.

Now execute the hell out of the default judgments. Seize all of the MFer’s assets.

Whatever $$$ he has are well-hidden and protected. He won’t pay a dime and he won’t do time.

Alex Jones will do a Johnson and Johnson and walk away. And soon thereafter a christian conservative judge appointed by Skanky Turdface will throw out the judgement. It is constitutional for conservatives to commit the vilest and heinous crimes.

Me too. Especially when they are using the slow speed of the legal process to justify screaming IOKIYAR!!

Modest proposal: as there was no rulling on the law, because the defendant refused to participate, to discourage future defendants from accepting loss, rather than set a president, we fine them an amount equal to 150% of their earnings over the entire period that the issue was being legislated.

This should be the end of Infowars.
