Following the launch of its own internal review of hospitality practices, the Air Force found that its flight crews have stayed at President Trump’s Scotland golf resort at least 40 times since 2015, Politico reported.
That’s outrageous. Someone needs to lose their job for allowing that on the air. As the article says, the company (ABC or is it Sinclair) that approved it and put in on the air profited from this shit. Plus, the woman that put it together must be brain-dead or just plain ignorant. As a child of a Cambodian refuge coming here in the 70’s she has to realize that her father would not be allowed to emigrate to this country under a tRump maladministration if that happened today…but of course, she intentionally avoids dealing with that reality.
I’m not the biggest OAC fan, but I gotta admit her comebacks to some GOP outrage or other are far more effective than the usual Democratic reaction, which is to intone gravely and with tremulous voice about how offended they are and how their feelings are hurt.
Of course, that’s the whole point of GOP guerrilla theater, to show that Democrats are a bunch of wusses. At least laughing it off or throwing it back in their faces with an even bigger punch shows (for once) that Democrats won’t take it lying down.
According to the article it was aired on a Sinclair station or an ABC affiliate out of DC…so, not sure how that works and who is ultimately responsible for approving that shit.
Republicans are going to cut my Social Security, reduce my health benefits, and raise my taxes so government can lodge personnel at a luxury resort for the profit of the Golfer-in-Chief?
No wonder Republicans aren’t interested in ending wars.
First they said the military landing only happened once or twice. Within hours of the recent article there was reporting going back a couple of years by the Scotsman and the Guardian that this was an agreed upon business plan by tRump to divert planes to that airport so he could keep his golf course profitable. Now its reported to have been 40 times that the Air Force has landed there. How much you wanna bet by the time they fully investigate this shit it will end up showing a lot more pit stops to that airport on the taxpayer’s dime then we ever could have imagined? I’m pretty sure that soon we’ll find out its not just the Air Force making those landings. The graft being employed by tRump to enrich himself has been blatant and continual.
I hope that Politico or some other outlet can figure out whether the USAF paid Turnberry directly for the accommodations or whether the USAF paid Prestwick Airport for fuel and accommodations. My guess is that the airport charged the USAF $130/night and then paid Turnberry a higher rate which was crosssubsidized by the high price of the jet fuel. In other words - can we get a simple apple-to-apples comparison of the cost to fuel plus transportation to the hotel plus room rate at Prestwick/Turnberry vs alternatives and get a reasonable explanation from the USAF for its choices. The big favor to Trump is in keeping Prestwick open since it is the closest airport to Turnberry, not so much filling a few hundred empty rooms over a couple of years (bad as that is). If the USAF is wasting taxpayer money, the people who approved this need to be disciplined (at least busted a rank or two) and the discipline made public as a signal to the rest of the military that Trump corruption is not tolerated.
I wasn’t, but she has won me over in a big way. She is becoming an incredibly accomplished House representative, very quickly. Well beyond just being masterful on social media in owning the GOP…she is following through on drawing attention to a number of real, nuts and bolts issues on how the government should operate.
Its not an “If”. The root problem is, the President refuses to divest himself from his private businesses, and instead constantly creates these conflict of interest scenarios that enrich him.
The USAF should be clearly made any and all Trump properties unacceptable for stay overs. As should every other branch of the military and government.
