Several voters placed Trump’s legal troubles into religious analogies.
“The closer a person is to God, and the more that they’re trying to do to fulfill God’s plans and do the right thing, the more Satan attacks him,” said John Nish, an engineering manager from Iowa who likes DeSantis but has been energized by the criminal charges against Trump.
Loose Cannon is going to fuck up the documents case as sure as God made little green apples.
And @TPM_dk is deserving of all the support we can give him.
It was launched from the ground. Somehow that makes it…better.
oh, shoot. I guess I shouldn’t have broken all those mirrors this morning. Sorry, everybody!
“I’ve got a bad feeling about this “
So many of you insisted that Morning Memo could suffer in the short term if it meant me getting a chance to rest and recuperate that I felt like I had your permission to cut today’s installment a bit short.
Please do get lots of rest and give yourself all the time you need to recover. One of the worst mistakes you can make after trauma of any kind, especially physical trauma, is to try to throw yourself back into work and regular life before you’re ready. Take your time. As much as we all love and appreciate the work that you do, one of the best parts about TPM has always been the comments section. It’s like one big ole news aggregation site where everyone drags links, blog posts, Tweets and twits and posts them for everybody else to read. I mean, my guy, you do great work, but we’re not getting to 700-800+ comments a day on your work alone. We’ll be juuuust fine. We just need you to be fine too. @TPM_dk
The arsonists Rethuglicans are inside the House! Governing is difficult. Snipping on social media at Democrats is easy. What a bunch of cowardly, lazy, destructive assholes the Rethuglicans are.
Ditto.
@TPM_dk You’re still in all of our thoughts. Good MM.
People are organizing to fight back against Klanned Karenhood.
A full scale invasion of Gaza by IDF is Hamas’ goal and Israel’s own goal.
Definitely stealing Klanned Karenhood
She (Judge Cannon) is in way over her head and drowning. It’s that simple.
Ugh.
Just a note to say that I’m so grateful I’ve had the presence of mind to stay away from Twitter for the past week. Judging from comments on Bluesky about what’s going on there, those people–pro-Israel and pro-Palestine both; people you’d thought of as fellow travelers on basic understandings of shared humanity and innocence–have lost any sense of discernment on these events. I think back to what happened to us collectively in the days/weeks . . . years after 9/11, and all that is playing out again now–an not just in Israel and Gaza, either.
That seems like a spurious and inaccurate complaint given how extensively Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team had briefed the issues. It also leaves the misimpression that the conflicts of interest issue is entirely the responsibility of prosecutors to raise and address. In fact, the court has its own obligations and imperatives in this matter.
And guess how this was reported? By claiming that prosecutors were “unaware” and “caught offguard.”
While I know that our entire system is based on a strong foundation of chickenwire and sand, I’m tired of one person having the ability to fuck up everything while everyone says, “Well, what can you do?” This goddamn sow is pathetic.
I’m not so sure. She’s acting like defense counsel from the bench, and doing it in ways that are no appealable by DOJ.
