Aides Dissuaded Trump From Making Jan. 6 So Much Worse

There could be Stockholm syndrome in the SS (S^4?). You have to be quite gone to be prepared to take a bullet for the Orange Sack of Shit, or, being stuck in the Beast, get covid from him and not complain. So, denying the wheel-and-clavicle-grab incident is easy-peasy for them.

There is plenty to care about.

Hutchison testified about a conversation she had with Anthony Ornato, Trump’s deputy chief of staff and a former Secret Service agent, while Bobby Engel – the head of Trump’s security detail who was earlier in the Beast during the alleged wheel-and-clavicle-grab incident – present, sitting on the couch and “discombobulated”. There was no report of any dispute about the narration of the wheel-and-clavicle-grab incident.

So now, Mr Engel wants to testify under oath that the wheel-and-clavicle-grab didn’t happen; the clavicle in question is, of course, Mr Engel’s.

It doesn’t seem to me that Mr Engel gets out of this without convincing the world that Ms Hutchison is a remarkably brazen liar – and no one is going to believe that. He would also need Mr Ornato to testify that Ms Hutchison is a liar.

What we are witnessing, surely, is Stockholm Syndrome in the Secret Service (S^4). Engel is lying – and stating that he is prepared to lie under oath – for Trump, thus bringing disgrace not only on himself but on the entire SS. This is not going away.

Fox is starting to throw tRump under the bus.

The hosts look shellshocked. Like, “um, how do we pivot to Hunter’s laptop?”

I don’t get why Pat Cipollone refused to testify. He was White House Counsel, meaning he represented the executive organization, not Trump personally. Trump was proposing a number of future crimes, which he advised against. However, since Trump was proposing crimes that could result in death or severe bodily injury, he had an obligation to give others, including the Capitol Police, a heads up about the future crimes. The communications were not privileged, so what was he waiting for? Why is he still in hiding?

“A 26 year old female staff member had the courage. Not Pence, not McReynolds, not Jordan, Not McCarthy……….not one single cabinet member. Criminals all!”

Yes. And cowards all.

What a brave and impressive young woman. “As an American, I was disgusted” stands out to me in her testimony.

That’s basically it, isn’t it. Cipollone knew of all sorts of law-breaking and conspiracy of insurrection by the Twitler and the other Twisslerings and Cipollone decided to stick with the Twisslers rather than recuse himself (at the very least) from the trial.

I would hope they would have confirmed this before she testified since her testimony is hearsay. She wasn’t in the car but only heard about the event after the fact although she testified that she was told in Engel’s presence. It’s hysterical that no one even questions whether he would have done such a thing because of course he would.

Sadly, where we are today (IMO) is at a point where it cannot get much worse for Trump. Nixon in this spot gave up the presidency, LBJ in this spot chose not to run for reelection. I don’t see Trump choosing anything good. If there are not indictments of upper level administration members, hopefully Trump himself, this will set the floor so low for next time that we have to be concerned. At the next MAGA insurrection, there won’t be magnetometers, there will be booths passing out weapons, those at the back of the crowd, will luck out, since they will hit the AR-15 booths first. The lucky MAGAts who got next to the stage will get only the spear tipped flags.

But does Pat believe that are does he believe more strongly that he represents TFG? It is very possible that Pat is corrupt enough to believe TFG is more important than the office.

I’m no expert, but I think the ATF calls it the AK Assault Rifle. Strictly speaking, an AK47 would have been mfg in 1947.

Speaking of which, you know with the war in Ukraine how people are worried he might nuke us if we fight him?

I’d argue that, if Vlad wanted to nuke us, the Trump administration would have been the best time. While the missiles were inbound, Donald would have spent the time trying to phone his buddy.

He’s bluffing, I bet   ; - )

It’s almost like he would be a mandated reporter. Well, I guess anyone is a mandated reporter in the sense that if you know someone else is going to do something that results in the harm or death of another you are mandated to report them.

At what point does the RNC say fuck it and move on? They’ve let Trump trash what was left of their party, and they are still sticking by him and paying his legal fees. Maybe the RNC and GOP are thinking that Dems aren’t going to do anything. They thought that when McCarthy tried to put his favorite operatives on the Committee, to sabotage it, Pelosi would accept them, and she rejected them instead. They thought labelling the Committee illegitimate would stop them, and it hasn’t because the Courts disagreed with that label. They thought ignoring subpoenas would work- that one is a mixed result. Pleading the Fifth and not answering questions? Other witnesses and evidence seems to be telling enough of the story to explain a lot and why that person doesn’t want to incriminate themselves. Death threats and other intimidation tactics? Just got called out. This emergency hearing shed a lot of light on what people knew was coming, and how Trump wanted to watch the violence up close. The Committee showed it knows the Right is trying to shut people up, and is piling up evidence of crimes. The big question left is how far will the Committee go? Republicans should be scared.

Pat’s loyalties are to the office, not the man, ever. Trump can believe what he wants, but Pat’s loyalties are to the rule of law and the people of the United States. Not reporting the coup in progress, when death and injury were foreseeable, was likely an ethical violation as counsel. BTW: Couldn’t the 1/6 committee just call his office and book a deposition?

It’s interesting, Bill Barr and Cipollone were partners at Kirkland & Ellis, the high-billing institutional wrecking crew called in to dismantle, well, everything. K&E even spawned Laura Ingraham. The Trump administration was riddled with K&E lawyers, yet this firm, if mentioned, is usually portrayed as fighting for the public interest rather than discriminatory efficiency. Needless to say, K&E lawyers who fail to bring home the bacon are out.

The secret service testimony of a calm and presidential being driven away will negate everything this poor woman said today. Guarantee.

And that’s where he fails and fails miserably. The two positions are counter to each other and cannot be reconciled. He has not come forward, has refused to come forward. That tells me, at least, everything I need to know.

Fair enough, but, coincidentally, Trump tried to overthrow the republic.

Your cynicism is perfectly justified, I’m sure, and, I share it, but…

“I don’t care if they have weapons, they’re not her to hurt me” is going to leave a mark. That’s basically a confession to seditious conspiracy, right there.

Also, under questioning, that “Secret Service Agent” is going to have to admit he was offered a high-level political appointee’s job in the White House, so, a competent prosecutor will have no troubles, at all, impeaching his testimony.
