I’m constantly amazed how often some people miss the point. I’ll try once more.
Delta County is bright red.
We have 1 death
Try to tell the local trumpies that they are in danger and have to wear a mask.
They will rebel and make it harder for the rest of us.
Polis knows this.
You don’t.
I suggest you come over and talk to those not wearing masks (but carrying guns of course) how they need to take the proper precautions and then stand at the door of a business and stop them from coming in. You can explain to them about the mice, I’m sure that will entertain them on their way past you.
A lot of people don’t seem to get this problem. Or just ignore it. Or expect Democratic politicians to fix it by diktat.
As I said above, until the vast majority (80%? 90? 95% somewhere in there; Red or Blue, young or old, whatever) buy into doing their part to stop COVID-19, we won’t be able to stop it. These stupid conversations about spread prevention measures as political statements are happening nowhere else in the first world. And nowhere else in the first world is abjectly failing like we are. The politicians–Trump, primarily–had a chance to step up their leadership and explain how we could all, working together just this once, stop this. And how doing these things to stop the spread and otherwise resuming as much of normal life as we could, while still taking measures to stop spread, would be the fastest way to get past this at the least long term economic impact and cost in lives and health. Instead they viewed it entirely from a political/ideological perspective and as primarily an impediment to reelecting Trump over all else. And presented “stop the spread”/“return to normal life” as a simple binary, and political, choice. The results are here for all to see. It’s embarrassing to call myself an American right about now. As a nation, we are doing a terrible job in the most important task we’ve had as a nation since WWII. The most important job in just about any of our lifetimes.
Feinstein proposes withholding COVID-19 relief from states without mask mandates
Now there’s an idea. Dead in this Senate. But a great idea, nonetheless.
The more I think about this, the more it seems like a master stroke. Even McConnell has expressed support for mask wearing recently. So will he co-sponsor this amendment? What about all the R Senators in re-election fights who are seeing scary poll numbers? Will they co-sponsor? And, if some legislation with this in it actually gets out of the Senate, what of Trump who has now condescended to the libs and worn a mask all of once in public–and repeatedly threatened states with withholding funding over the other half of the reopen binary? Will he sign it?
" no shirt, no shoes, no mask, no service," but what about pants? Do I have to wear pants? Where in the Constitution does it say I have to wear pants?
