It’s still surprising that no one working on the election was killed by the nuts listening the lies of Trump and the Republicans. I have a feeling it’s going to be much worse in 2022, with actual attacks against election administrators and on polling places…it’s where the movement is headed, at least one nut is going to carry through on the threats.

Georgia has a time honored history of electoral terrorism stretching back to Reconstruction. The only surprise would be if anybody got indicted.

Maybe the future will T**** that history.

I agree. I do think there is a barrier between being a keyboard warrior and an actual one, willing to take a life like they may say they want to do. We do have a strongly instilled social more about murder and it takes a strong mental step to actually cross that line, no matter what they are saying online.

But there are undoubtedly other Timothy McVeighs out there who with enough prodding from the wrong people can become convinced that violence is the only possible response to the perceived threat. And that’s why we need a robust law enforcement intelligence operation monitoring chatter and trying to locate the lone wolves who are willing to do more than just talk from behind a keyboard or screen.

And we need ways to marginalize the miniscule set of voices that are calling for violence absent any evidence of malfeasance and working to inflame and incite others to act. Hopefully, the social media companies can be pushed to keep up moderating their platforms to limit the violent, hateful voices so that calmer, more thought-provoking ones can come to the fore.

RethugliQanons and their friends seem to really hate America. They seem to be doing everything they can to sabotage our freedoms and our way of life. A pox on them all.

Attacking election officials and health care professionals have been the hallmark of Trumpism.

Nothing happened to the thugs?

Then there will be a lot fewer election officials, and elections will be slower, fouled up more, and…
Was this a purposeful approach to voter suppression?
