Admin Preps Redacted Whistleblower Complaint For Congress

Ah, yes, we’re back to this again, releasing a version of some otherwise damning whatever that’s redacted and edited to make it look innocuous, even exonerating, hoping that the media falls for it, Dems don’t meaningfully fight to obtain access to the full whatever, and the public moves on to the next bright shiny object, as with the Mueller Report (whose usefulness for Dems is far from over IMO as I believe we’re about to see).

I don’t think it’s going to work this time. Nor the redacted and edited version of the phone call. I think that Dems have crossed a line and aren’t going back. If they do, they risk losing everything in 2020 by looking like feckless fools who are easily cowed. No one wants to vote for someone like that. They smell blood, they see an opportunity, they’ve taken on a mandate, and they simply can’t go back. They HAVE to go all the way, for both political and substantive reasons. And I believe they will, even if they’ll have to be pushed to it by more progressive members of their caucus and constituency.

The public, I believe, is looking to be led, to be given a good enough reason to support impeachment, and Dems are the only ones who can provide it, since they’re the only ones who can impeach. So far, they haven’t done this, not convincingly at least. That’s what this needs to be about, not only coming up with the formal evidentiary justification for impeachment, but also and especially with the plain as day political justification, to bring the public on board, without whose support impeachment could backfire.

Impeachment must be a sensationalist spectacle, one not overshadowed by process stories that the public will tune out, but which regularly highlights Trump’s most egregious crimes, that his oily charm, junkyard dog ferocity and scandal muddling skills can’t negate. Trump must be found guilty in the court of public opinion, and Dems have to make it their top priority to make that happen.

They need to hire top lawyers who are expert in such prosecution or litigation, who know how to put on a show, and then they have to unleash them to absolutely destroy Trump (and any Repubs who continue to support him) in the public view. Isolate him politically, make him politically radioactive, and even if he’s not removed, he’ll guarantee huge Dem gains in 2020.

Its nice when they advertise the coverup so clearly:

However, according to Reuters, the transcript of the call is unlikely to be verbatim and will not be accompanied by a recording. Instead, the ultimate document will more likely be notes on the phone call taken by officers on assignment at the National Security Council. Those note-takers are reportedly unlikely to include details that would be embarrassing for their nation’s leader, should the document leak.

It makes it easier for the rest of us to call BS.

Did they demand the unredacted complaint?

Brace yourselves. We are in for an interesting day. No way a reacted report will fly. No way!

My guess is they are planning to get it from the whistleblower directly. Any written portion of the complaint is likely to be too compromised now to be trustworthy.

Trump’s team sure are going to be updating their resumes now. The bailout rate will be proportional to the level of seriousness. Some might even resign outright, if they are of means. The culpable ones can run, but they can’t hide.

So, I assume the transcript will look something like:

Trump REDACTED is REDACTED the REDACTED greatest REDACTED President REDACTED ever.

Not sure . Looks like it is implied

“To quash the growing calls for President Donald Trump’s impeachment, and to assuage lawmakers angry at the blatant disregard for oversight law.”

Really? That’s what thIs is about? Assuaging lawmakers angry that a criminal president is breaking the law…AGAIN…HOW does another bullshit fairy tale by the biggest serial liar in history placate this disgraceful Congress? Do your job people…its not like this is in the same category as covering up his antics with porn stars…what happens next will determine if this Republic endures in the face of withering attacks on its laws and conventions by an obvious cabal of hoodlums.

And, I remember early on in this fiasco a friend thought what would bring tRump down was a good old fashioned sex scandal. How many scandals does it take to do this, hope we’re at peak level.

An redacted report will travel halfway around the world
while the truth is getting its boots on.

We saw this already.

That, though, I regard as completely mendacious, corrupt, and self-serving. There may be (one hopes) Dem senators who want the truth, but the vast majority of Repubs are just trying to enable Barr’s Mueller-Report-style distortion and omission. And if the whistleblower does appear in front of a Senate committee, it will only be so that assholes like Jordan can posture and obfuscate. They’re still trying to distance themselves and stay ahead of the narrative, which is exploding all around them.

ObDeepThroat (apocryphal) quote: “these are not very bright guys.”

This is a sign of how much damage Trump has done. There are good arguments for only disclosing redacted versions of presidential conversations with foreign leaders (as former Amb. Michael McFaul argued yesterday, unredacted versions would make it much less likely that other leaders would speak candidly with the president). But no one trusts Trump and his cronies to avoid any step that might harm him or infringe on his power or lead even to mild criticism. So it will be here–the redactions might be perfectly legitimate, but no one of substance will have any faith in them, because no one has faith n the process.

I think Putin would arrange new phones calls to be recorded between Trump and Zelensky. The same length of conversations, erase the old and replace with the new. Very close to the original with slight modifications. Zelesky would get an offer he couldn’t refuse for his cooperation. The whistleblower’s version wouldn’t match the new calls. Therefore, the WB is lying. Fake News.
It would work in Russia…not so sure about here.
