Active-Duty Troops Begin To Pull Out Of DC

WASHINGTON (AP) — Active-duty troops brought in to help if needed with the civil unrest in the nation’s capitol are beginning to return to their home base, after two days of more peaceful demonstrations in Washington, D.C., senior defense officials told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

I wish Frederick Christ Trump would have pulled out.

Good. Now lose some weight. Those fatigues look like they were cut from a circus tent.

Yeah, but Fat Nixon is already working on another military hardening of his staff…

Last year, the “Salute to America” cost Washington, D.C., and the federal government more than $5 million.

Perhaps Trump could be put inside a shell and shot, from a large cannon, over Mt. Rushmore.

How about we just strap him to an ICBM and launch him towards the center of Sol?

20,000 tonnes of diesel fuel spilled into a river inside the Arctic Circle.

A tonne is 1000 kg. The specific gravity (density) of diesel fuel ranges from 0.82 to 0.95 with respect to water. 1 liter of water is 1 kg. So in terms of liters, we’re talking about 20,000 * 1,000 / {0.82 to 0.95} liters. That’s between 21 and 24.4 million liters. That translates to between 5.56 and 6.44 million gallons.

It’s likely that if someone drops a match, that river burns for a damn long time.

Cleveland: Been there, done that…

Fireworks in the wilderness in the middle of summer? What could go wrong.

Diesel doesn’t burn at room temperature without compression. You can toss a lit match into a bucket of diesel and all that happens is the match will go out.

Yes, I know, and I’m sorry for that. It’s truly important that people understand the severity of it and the potential impact to the environment. When it’s bad enough that even Putin is hopping up and down, his anger is only “qualifiable”. We need to “quantify” the potential damage. We did the world no favors with the BP failure involving the Deepwater Horizon. The Russian spill is even worse that there are no roads to that region requiring cleanup, so the Russian military is going to have to address the issue because they’re the only organization in Russia with the wherewithal to get there and take appropriate action.

You’re right. I stand corrected. I guess they can’t just burn it off to attempt to effect a “clean-up”.

I’m not sure about that, once you get it burning I’m pretty sure the heat will result in a self-sustaining burn. Just, it’ll take more than a match or lit cig.
