ACLU Files Lawsuit To Block Attacks By Federal Agents In Portland Protests | Talking Points Memo

The American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Oregon on Friday filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Marshals Service after they deployed agents to quell racial justice protests that have continued unabated since the police killing of George Floyd in May.

As an unintended consequence of these fascist, jack-booted tactics, the number of protesters has doubled.

The whole Trump Era has been an unintended consequence of Hillary’s emails…

I am out of my depth here, but couldn’t the Mayor of Portland instruct the city police to intervene and possibly arrest those in camouflage? Or Governor Brown call in the state National Guard to do the same? The attacks could be by federal agents or jack booted, right wing thugs. If federal agents, who are they and what is their mission? Don’t the citizens have a right to know?

Chad is “acting” Head of the Jackboots.

He’s a very bad actor, having no knowledge whatsoever of what anyone else would have predicted.

From Wolf to Cuchinelli to the head of CBP, these are all acting heads of agencies Trump has put there to do his bidding. They apparently lack the credentials, ethics, or competence to survive Senate confirmation, even a Senate full of corrupt Republicans.

While this is a dangerous escalation, an abuse of power, and can’t be tolerated, it also signifies Trump’s weakness and his willingness to do anything in an effort to change the narrative. He’s losing and losing badly and he knows it. Unfortunately unless someone in his Administration is willing to reign him in (that would be no one), expect more of this crossing the lines of constitutionality.

Why is CBP allowed to operate in Oregon at all. Last I checked, States or water on every side. Outside of ports or airports, their presence is the ultimate of unnecessary.

McConnell has GOT to be the luckiest guilty man on earth. Nobody appears to fuck with him on things like, well, serious questions.

Especially in light of the fact that Trump’s continuance in Office (as a direct result of McConnell’s acquittal on Impeachment) is also directly responsible for nearly 200,000 deaths by COVID**

**200,000 is unofficial, but probable

Excellent. Immediate injunctive relief is needed against these federal brown shirts. Governor Brown is right — this is sick political theater— it’s “the caravan” taken to another heightened level.

I think it is time that the administration is designated a terrorist organization.

According to the Acting head of DHS they are anonymous to protect their families from the wrath of the protestors. These bastards have a way of twisting the truth that is beyond anything Orwell could have conjured up.

Kinda OT, but it all leads back to the rotting orange in the WH…I strongly suggest that Mary Trump be named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year. I can’t go so far as to suggest a Nobel, but that would be fun, just for spite.

From a movie many moons ago,but seems as if Wolf, and Cuchnelli saw it.

Don’t know. But you can be sure Chump has picked all the areas which have D governors, D leaders, and something he can attack that won’t stick to an R.

Biden could never amass bigly numbers like that. Great big numbers. The best virus tally ever.

By that logic, any/all police could become anonymous. Creeping fascism.

Chris Hayes asked the Governor about Oregon’s “border”. His question produced almost two seconds of giggles. It was nice of him.

The problem is though he acts on the national stage and affects all our lives, he’s only answerable to the people of Kentucky. And other Republican Senators who could theoretically check him, refuse to do so. It’s not as if they’re obligated to vote him Majority Leader, and yet they do repeatedly.
