I am a longtime donor. For many years I wondered whether it was a good use of my charitable donations. In the past 2 years it has been worth every penny I have given them since 1978. They are doing a bang up job fighting lardass and his crooks.

O yeah. The last two years have more than made up for the slower times for sure. Hardly a day has passed since the bag of rancid cheese took the oath that I haven’t been really glad I contribute.

There is a crime/fraud exception to otherwise privileged communications or documents, based on the principle that litigants can’t be allowed to use the privilege to commit or cover up a crime or a fraud. I assume they’re arguing the cover-up and pretext was a fraud on the court. I would not expect that argument to fare all that well, but any documents turned up via waiver could almost certainly be used in 2021 citizenship redistricting cases.

So if these folks testified under oath, would that meet the (textual) standards for perjury? At which point a judge might feel justified in doing whatever, because the usual referral process is obviously broken.

I hope this goes through, and the faster the better. However, if they were serving in their administration capacities does that mean they get DOJ and Commerce attorneys, or do they have to cover their own legal expenses?
The ACLU is the gold standard of resistance. They have benefited enormously, in funding terms, from the GOP’s slide into authoritarianism. By God have they paid it back. Our politicians might want to study and learn.

The allegedly there is incorrect. Y’all might want to cover your assets with allegedly when describing an act, but you are describing the sanction, which would not be ordered unless the court found the testimony to be sanctionable, and in this case that would mean false.
The motion was for sanctions for false testimony. The testimony alleged to be false was: (and so forth). Besides, the Supremes have ruled it false in so many words.

Good. The only way to stop this criminal regime’s poison is to send those who do it’s bidding to jail. Only when rank and file individuals fear for their own future will they stand up to Trump and his lackies.

The ACLU is a national treasure. Keep branding these reich-wing lawyers so that they will never be named to judgeships and have to defend their licenses in the face of their perfidy.

100% agree. People with no name recognition that have zero chance of getting thrown a life raft by Trump. Play ball with this extra legal administration and you should count on going to prison, losing your college savings for the kids, and kissing your suburban lifestyle goodbye.
Not to change topics but this is part of the reason why I am hesitant about Biden. I really do not think he will go after Trump and his minions. Just like what happened with Shrub and his minions when Obama was president. The way to stop the illegality is to prosecute them from top to bottom. It’s done in other countries, why not here.
It may be little consolation, but the silver lining in Trump’s dark census cloud is just how obviously desperate the GOP is to cheat its way to relevance. It knows the US is changing demographically, entirely to the benefit of Democrats. It knows just how lethal the numbers are. It’s thrown caution to the wind and is brazenly clawing to keep its tenuous grip on power. Watching the GOP cough up blood is a comforting sight. Eventually, we should throw its corpse into a dumpster.
