It’s a good organization for the most part and up to them. If they want him, they can have him. Hopefully, he does good work with them. That’s up to them to decide.
I mean, did we think these things are automatic mandatory sentences to lifetime unemployment? WTF?
“No, but he should have to be stuck being a janitor or something.”
Yeah, well, janitors around the country would like you to go fuck yourself.
I only keep Sling TV for breaking news and maybe 10 hours of
shows a month.
When I see a story like this, I start to think about cancelling Sling. This isn’t about sex, this is this guy getting pleasure from degrading women. I don’t know why anyone would need his opinion, or respect his opinion.
Others have fully addressed the sexual harassment aspect, and I have nothing to add there.
I have a different question: what the hell is he even good for? Purely on the work-product merits, Mark Halperin should be flipping burgers until he retires.
I’ll wager it was actually a marketing director who asked a staff meeting of flacks who they could “uncancel” who wasn’t too toxic… and let the staff throw names at him.
“No Labels” is a Liebermanesque charade that is responsible for such abject foolishness as the “Problem-Solvers Caucus” in the House. It is led by Nancy Jacobson, who is married to Mark Penn and greatly admired by such intellectual heavyweights as David Brooks.
Where I might agree with you is that the group is a good fit professionally for Mark Halperin – and vice versa.
As for Halperin’s … personal behavior, the less I say the better.
That’s where I’m at with it. I might understand it if the man actually had some talent, if he actually had something to contribute that would make him a valuable asset. He doesn’t. He’s an idiot, an untalented hack who brings absolutely nothing to the table.
I mean, he (Obama) treated him (Halperin) like just another member of the hoi polloi. Not an exalted member of the Movers and Shakers. What else was he (Halperin) expected to say about that?
Before he was known as a sexual harasser, Halperin’s currency was watching the horserace of politics, rarely the merits or content, and often with a snarky dismissal of Democrats. So if he apologizes, and atones, and is forgiven, then what’s left is still a disagreeable mouthpiece for reactionary forces. Yick.
I’m certainly not glowing about it, but it’s not the hyperbolic shit you’re spewing. It’s also done some good things, like proposing a rule that POTUS appointees be given an simple up or down vote within 90 days. They also spent $1M on an ad campaign defending the November 2020 vote. Their Speaker Project proposed some new good and reasonable rules about House process and Pelosi adopted some of them.
I don’t have to agree with everything they’ve done or proposed to consider them “good.” Some pressure for compromise and bipartisanship has to come from somewhere and by its very nature it’s not going to be a somewhere that always has wonderful, fantastic, excellent ideas that send a tingle up one’s leg.
Not sure what you mean about Jacobson though. Unless something changed, I thought it was led by Reed (R-NY) and Gottheimer (D-NJ).
