Get in Line or ‘Pay the Price’ In a scathingly-written regulatory filing posted on the Federal Communications Commission’s website on Thursday, ABC’s lawyers tore into Trump administration FCC head Brendan Carr for “attempted censorship” and accused Carr of helping President Trump in his retribution campaign against media that criticizes him. “The retaliation against ABC is…
“I have no objection to temporarily withdrawing Todd’s name, if they do not do the right thing, and putting him back after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office,” he said.
Right now it doesn’t look like Rs will replace Cornyn or Tillis. Does Trump even know that? Seriously, he seems to be sort of staggering through la-la land these days. “We control the Strait of Hormuz.” Soon it will be, “I’m sending Steiner’s Panzer divisions into Iran tomorrow.”
What these broadcasters are going to have to do is put together a huge litigation against the FCC and force the agency to document exactly how they have violated their public interest. Historically, not all Presidential speeches have been broadcast. These are done at the discretion of the broadcasters, not by force, as this is not state television (yet).
The letters from the thousands of viewers and groups calling out this whole thing as poppycock will be ignored because they are not consistent with Carr’s beliefs (and therefore those of the President).
It would be nice if Congress would take a stand, but that’s asking far too much.
“So much depends, of course, on what the individual hears when he gives himself over to the electronic tides breaking on the shore of his Seashell. The voice of conscience and reason? An echo of morality? A new thought? A fresh idea? A morsel of philosophy? Or bias, hatred, fear, prejudice, nightmare, lies, half-truths, and suspicions? Or, perhaps even worse, the sound of one emptiness striking hollowly against yet another and another emptiness, broken at two-minute intervals by a jolly commercial, preferably in rhymed quatrains or couplets?” ― Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451

What kind’a world is this where the Disney company is now a national hero?
They may be one of the few organizations with the capital to take on this fight. Glad to see them doing it.
