Abbott Withdraws Endorsement From GOPer

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) withdrew his endorsement from Republican state Rep. Rick Miller, who called it “racist” that his “Asian” challengers are running in a heavily Asian district.

There’s got to be more to Abbott’s move than just the guy’s racist comments. Racism is the Texas GOP’s brand.

It appears he was already facing an uphill battle.

Democrats are also targeting the seat after Miller won reelection last year by nearly 5 points and Beto O’Rourke, the Democratic U.S. Senate nominee, carried it by 2 points. Four Democrats have filed for the seat in 2020: Lawrence Allen Jr., a member of the State Board of Education; L. Sarah DeMerchant, the 2018 nominee against Miller; Rish Oberoi, a development consultant; and Suleman Lalani, a physician.

Periodic reminder that a net pickup of 9 seats in the Texas House flips that chamber for the 2021 redistricting cycle. Beto won in 9 of the 17 seats that this new group is targeting for voter registration efforts, including this schmuck’s district.

According to the Texas Tribune, Abbott endorsed Miller for his reelection in October, calling him a “principled conservative.”

Looks to me like he’s got GOP principles down cold.

In what way, may I ask? Too subtle? Perhaps if he said his opponents should “go back where they came from,” that would be more in line with those values.

District is 80+% White and this fool is saying his two challengers are only there because they are running to represent a district with 5% Asian population? No racism there. Nope. The Republican Party has lost it’s collective mind.

Such malarkey?

Asians under the bed! They’re a’comin to get ya!

Wow Abbot…THIS is what is ‘out of touch with the values of the Republican Party’??? REALLY? You have some real pieces of work down there and THIS comment/casual racism is what you choose to stand against? Wow.

So is there now going to be a GOP conspiracy theory about the basement of a Chinese restaurant?

Well, Abbott is also on record as having said that Miller is running his campaign “like a Chinese fire drill.”

Hey stupid, is it a coincidence that “heavily white” districts are overwhelmingly represented by a white guy?

The GOP lost its mind in 1980 on the alter of “Voodoo Economics.”

They now believe as dogma that cutting revenue raises revenue.

Actually Kate Riga got her districts mixed up
Per 2010 U.S. Census data, Miller’s district — the 26th — is 5.1 percent Asian. It is majority white, at 82.2 percent.

That’s the US House TX26 in north Texas, which is clear if you follow the link.

Rick Miller represents Texas House district 26 (he’s a state rep) in Sugarland, near Houston. It’s a minority/majority district, only 44% white, and 27% “other” which is likely almost entirely Asian.
