So are deaths caused by MAGA’ts refusing to wear masks part of the official TrumpPandemic count?
I don’t mean in terms of transmission, I mean the number of people the MAGA’ts outright murder while be confronted about them needing to wear a mask.
Apparently we live in a nation where you have to punish people for refusing to mildly inconvenience themselves for the greater good.

Legally enforceable mask mandate is a terrible idea. First, there is ZERO evidence masks work to protect against coronavirus or and ZERO evidence they don’t. Studies about masks and coronavirus are currently in progress. There’s been a lot of bad science distorted by advocacy that never should have been accepted by journals, science being published by PR release and journalists glomming onto those without bothering to check the study articles themselves to see what was actually said. In the meantime wearing masks where needed is a good precaution and a strong public health educational campaign in that regard from federal to local level is needed. Where appropriate? Definitely inside public places, especially where ventilation and new air circulation is limited, and also where people are gathered closely. The vast vast majority of transmission has been inside in low ventilation/air circulation circumstances and where multiple people are in close proximity, inside or outside.
The point is public health consciousness and control of genuinely risky situations, rather than a political-legal fight.
Self-enforcement isn’t working.

That 1) begs the question of why and where to wear masks, and 2) that there hasn’t been a top to bottom public health campaign about them as a precaution, let alone consistent control of crowd and group gatherings and ventilation indoors. Legal enforcement doesn’t change any of those, but just creates fights that focus on the wrong thing. Masks should not be political ideology but an appropriately used public health effort. Physical distancing and ventilation are the know keys; masks are a precaution at this point.
The Tribune reported that the Austin city council is expected to meet on Thursday to vote on a resolution that would enact a fine of up to $2,000 against anyone who violates the mask mandate.
If they really want to terrorize them into compliance they should threaten to take away their guns if they fail to wear a mask. Although the SCOTUS would probably see that as an equivalent to castration and rule it as cruel and unusual…

Given the pace of his backtracking he knows he really messed up the bed. I assume thousands of dead Texans don’t bode well for 2022 Gov campaign or 2024 possible POTUS attempt.

We had a consistent policy here in Dallas Co. Abbott superseded our policy with his set of non-policies.
They don’t want to shut down either - so there is a choice: shut down everything or wear masks.
What do you want - straight libertarian I get to do what I wantism? All that is accomplishing is rising infections and over stressed hospitals and tens of thousands of dead Americans.
