A Trump-Appointed Prosecutor Accepted CBS Interview On Capitol Riot Without Authorization | Talking Points Memo

Fruit of the poisoned tree. Defense lawyers could claim that he unfairly prejudiced these cases against the defendants, including Trump, so they can’t get true justice. You don’t tip your hand as a prosecutor.

In theory that could happen but I doubt it will. And I don’t see poisoning the tree as the dude’s motivation. I think Cervantes has it right. Just unprofessional publicity seeking.

Who does she think she is? Tucker Carlson?

Well, as a former member of the trump admin his hiring prospects are probably not good, so he may be angling for a book deal.

This smacks of a desperation move by her lawyers (is she on her legal team?). I expect the courts will see right through it and deny the motion to dismiss.

“Make your argument to the jury, counselor, because I’m not buying a word of it,” would be an appropriate judicial response.

The shaved head is usually a tipoff.

All he needs is a goatee and an extra 50 pounds and he’ll fit right in a MAGA rally – or an insurrection.

A book deal. A niche in the media temple. A political career.

Yes, could be any of those or something else.

The public comments about the investigation risk jeopardizing the investigation and could taint the jury pool for cases that won’t likely come to trial for months.

Plausibly sabotage under the guise of ‘self-promotion,’ with the justification of ‘the need to keep the public informed.’
Very fucking Trumpian: the only value the public has to them is as something whose chain can be yanked to produce a desired result.

More like Professor Irwin Corey.

Backwards and in high heels, huh?

That was gonna be MY best comment of the day. Thanks!

I don’t think it has to be 12th dimensional chess, just a conscious disregard for the harm brought to others in pursuit of narrowly self-serving interests – at best, a willingness to shit where others eat, with full awareness of the plausible consequences. (ed.)

checks out. I was pretty shocked by the interview and could not believe it was authorized.

When I read toxic shit like this the voice in my head reminds me of how sooo FUCKED we all (all of America) would be right now if Trump won reelection. But he didn’t … moving forward.

Not sure what the fuss is about. It is generally undesirable for the prosecuting authorities to talk about what they’re up to, but some dude going on TV once for a few minutes and asserting that sedition is something they’re taking seriously is hardly going to taint the jury pool. It’s blindingly obvious that something potentially seditious occurred on 1/6.

Biden should not trust a single one of Trump’s appointees.

While interesting this thread should be about Michael Sherwin, not her.

My gut reaction to his photo is that he does not have a face- he wears a Trumpian mask which he uses to preen and mug. The article just reinforced that response.

I had same reaction to DeJoy when he testified before Congress. I imagine these assholes practice smirks in front of their mirror every morning.

Either this in intentional sabotage , or this guy has the level of competence as a lawyer that we have come to expect from any of Donnie’s appointees.
In any case, Garland should go after his license to “practice” law.

Doesn’t her statement strengthen the argument that she intentionally defamed her target?
