Because I think we already knew that already and assumed others did. What I never can get is the notion (I can only speak as a female, but I assume it’s true for male partners) that the bigger the dick the greater the partner’s sexual pleasure. In my (admittedly limited) experience, that’s simply not true.
But what’s really striking here is that these conversations and dealing about shoes and shoe sizes are taking place among men, with Trump’s crude reference to leaving Melania out of it. Men like this don’t care about women’s pleasure. They just use their sex trophies as standards in their competitions with one another. Woman as the fetishized object. It always interests me that Penelope, rescued from that role by her testing of Odysseus, sympathizes with Helen.

Josh’s latest post on drama-friend Trump is excellent, particularly the observation that the “friend” part runs out after multiple viewings of the same movie. Europeans have pretty much thrown in the towel on the US, with concern turning to stranded assets rather than “opportunities”. Ukraine, which has received only a trickle of US assistance since the return of Trump has now built the world’s most dynamic drone sector while weaning itself completely off dependence on Chinese components and electronics. Perhaps the final straw militarily in the Iran “excursion” was the revelation that Putin is assisting Iran in targeting American and other Western country assets, and Trump goes along with it. WTF? Well that surely lays the ground for more drama in the coming weeks!
Europe went through massive reconstruction after WWII, an experience largely foreign to Americans. It is part of the reason Europe rebuilt with more robust healthcare, social safety nets and at least modest controls on the mining of personal and business assets (and still existed in the pre-Reagan era in the US) .While reconstruction and development policies gave Europe and Far East Asia a chance to build up more modern manufacturing in peace, the US used Pax Americana to move ahead into ephemeralized technologies in cell biology, artificial intelligence and other features of the noosphere. This push has left most Americans behind for whatever reason, leaving simple soap-opera narratives to frame popular discussion. It’s not the government shooting Americans in the face, it’s flying around in a bang plane that generates the most attention. It’s blowing up a girl’s school due to unaccountability in mis-targeting of an advanced Tomahawk missile and flat out lying about it. The “spell” or fever that Josh hopes will finally break for the American public, already outside the US broke (even with much grief) in the early months of Trump 2.0, and is why most of the world is done with the US. We no longer even make it into the friend zone with non-autocracies.

In ethology (animal behavior) Tinbergen introduced the concept of a ‘supernormal stimulus’–an exaggerated pattern or cue that releases a stronger instinctive response behavior. The classical safe-for-the-classroom version involves European songbirds parasitized by cuckoos.
