One of the worst militaries out there for human rights abuses, both at home and abroad. Good riddance to the lot of them.
The next government, or set of governments, more likely to come from the various tribal leaders who’ve been on the outside of things.
Kurds, of course, will have a great and thriving chunk of the country right up until everyone else stabs them in the back and abandons them for the millionth time.

That was one of the first ‘art movies’ I saw. I went on to see alot of the Peter Greenaway movies - that one The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover was probably the strangest- though very cool how sections were ‘color’ coded.

They’d really up their support levels by going after bicyclists who blow by every stop sign and rule of the road and nearly run into pedestrians because they’re so focused on their phones, without even an apology for it.

I started reading/posting here around 2000. Our only child was born a couple years earlier, when it seemed Dems were ascendant and had been proven correct on facts and science and were even correct on the economy. Before we regularly started getting cheated out of elections and Supreme Court seats. When it seemed we might finally beat the morally, spiritually, and factually bankrupt idiots back under their rocks. Solely on truth, facts, and metrics.
It wasn’t because we were so winning in our ways, so popular, so irresistable. Facts were facts and the media available to the most eyeballs generally bowed to the facts.
Well, that child has never known anything but a very fraught and fractious America. A post 9-11, post-truth, and highly propagandized misinformation America. We still had hopes the long arc of our moral history bent towards justice and reason. That child is keenly aware and sensible of how things have moved the opposite direction and against our hopes. We have quailed at the consequences our child must face.
Today, our child’s newborn tugged on my finger and pushed their legs against my hand and had their first mini-workout. About 10 minutes worth. I told my new grandchild they will need to be strong. Stonger than me.

You might try giving Butters some canned pumpkin. My daughter ran a dog rescue for a while and that is what she would give the dogs when they had gastro intestinal problems and it worked. Both for constipation and diarrhea. She had no idea why it worked but it did.

The end of the Iranian regime, even if it is coming about in a non-standard manner, is eminently a good thing, providing hope not only to hundreds of millions in the region, but globally, in that the axis of evil is far weaker than decades of conventional diplomacy and understanding has indicated, just as the fear of the Russian Bear was vastly overstated.
The arc of history bends towards progress, and tyrants fall.

Pedestrians stare at their phones… as do drivers. There’s even a car with a 8X11 screen built into the dash. Talk about dragging yer eyes off the road.
