Was Trump ordering a new unprecedented mid-decade census or was he re-upping his past failed bid to add a citizenship question, this time for the next census in 2030?"

Apparently trump’s Oath of Office where he vowed to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution” means nothing to him. He should read , I assume he knows how to read, Article 1 Section 1.

Funny, the Constitution does not mandate counting legal residents, it says Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.) Now, we all know the three-fifths stuff is gone; are these idiots arguing that those who entered the country without inspection are not “persons”?? And spare me the “subject to the jurisdiction” nonsense they are trying to obfuscate. If “illegals” are not “subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S.”, how the hell are they being prosecuted? Stop making up new laws based on your feelings.

Well, that’s about as ambiguous a statement as I’ve seen since I left academia. My best guess is that Bureau doesn’t have a clue what His Orangeness meant, either.
I’ll also note that our “robust Census data” will no longer be robust if they fuck with the data collection machinery without thinking about being back-compatible.
