As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Rep. Joe Morelle (D-NY) has had a front row seat to the process for funding President Donald Trump’s ongoing war in Iran.  “He’s got a lot of problems here,” Morelle said of Trump in a Wednesday conversation with TPM during which he shared his perspective on the…

Frist.

Obligatory catwalk:

He described the situation as a chaotic one, with a lack of concrete information, clear goals, mounting Democratic opposition, and a president who “has no credibility.”

TMF has put his foot in it and has no f-ing clue how to get out of it. This looks to be the issue that finally drives a stake through the heart of the MAGA movement. Hopefully, we survive this.

This war does not serve America.

“They fight us on things that will help American families be able to pursue dreams, take care of the food, housing, and healthcare needs of millions of families that they can’t afford,” he said of Republicans. “But they can go into an ill-conceived military action that has neither the support of Congress nor the support of American families, which has no clear objectives, shifting goals, and has alienated our allies and made us less safe.”

Exactly.

Ok, gotta say it: a trillion here, a trillion there, pretty soon we are talking about a lot of money.

Since then, Trump and his top officials have made a series of questionable statements about the operation’s goals and progress.

They are only questionable if you didn’t know about them beforehand to place an appropriate bet.

Morelle said he has received scant communication about where the new money would be going

Come on congressman, you know exactly where it will be going into the pockets of the TRUMP clan and their sycophantic billionaire buddies

Weird twist in Moscow-Washington relations, with possible industrial cooperation between Russia and the US. Talks on sanctions removal? and unclear as where meetings are taking place in the US, the first such meetings since 2018. This at the same time Russia is helping Iran target US military and infrastructure in the Middle East, and Congress has yet to propose any tax strategy for reducing the costs of Trump’s Iran “expedition.”

“I’m highly skeptical they can do it in that way and then, frankly, they’ll own the entire thing.”

With respect, Congressman - We’ll own it.

MAGAts will cheerfully follow him to their deaths. They refuse to talk about religion or politics to any of the libs, as instructed by Rupert’s minions. That way their beliefs cancel all factual information. Don’t look for any help there. Our nonagenarian special little boy has given Iran and as usual, Russia the upper hand in his latest butter knife and electrical socket adventure. Congress needs to trip the financial circuit breaker.

Last evening the local weather people were talking about the record heat we are having here in Albuquerque. They all said that no 90 degree temperatures had ever been recorded in March or even April here. None offered an explanation. That’s probably as close as they are allowed to get to climate change discussion.

Congress needs to grow a pair but first they need to tell Trump, war or ballroom because I don’t believer for a second that his ballroom is going to be privately funded.

it does serve Russia, however

As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Rep. Joe Morelle (D-NY) has had a front row seat to the process for funding President Donald Trump’s ongoing war in Iran.

Morelle is saying all the right things, but why is there this conversation about how to go about funding Trump’s latest war? Democrats should be united in messaging, loud and proud, that “we will not fund Trump’s (Republican Party) war with Iran”! Never mind the House controls war funding, or that Trump Gang is trying to get around the Houses’ authority in going to war. Just declare war on Republicans and Trump.

Trump becomes more dangerous every day. He was so pathetic yesterday with his gibberish. He’s so not in charge of anything. Democrats should be screaming foe his removal. We’re not even having that conversation. Or the fact ICE does not belong in our government or on America’s streets. Refuse to fund ICE no matter what.

Being satisfied with Trump’s tanking poll numbers while winning primaries in red districts and positioning for November assumes way too much.

Saying ‘we don’t have enough information to oppose it’ is a wild, telling statement. Basically an admission that they are eventually going to make this a bipartisan, illegal war. Not getting information is a reason to oppose it.
