The ideological vetting of the district court judges was pretty sparse compared to the appellate court judges. I think they mostly just let their state senators put names in the hopper.
I have had pre-appointment professional interaction with three trump judges. One was a fine and upstanding person who I correctly predicted would promptly toss out a bullshit 2020 election case. One was a hack. And the third was Jim Ho, who is one of the most overrated lawyers I’ve ever encountered.
