I’m sure W’s compassionate conservative Christians, those that David Brooks so lovingly portrays every time he has to explain to us lower orders why the govt. shouldn’t provide health care or food to citizens, will step in and fill the gap. Can’t wait to see how many families Onsteen’s mega church will help.

There’s a report out that Pritzker said the SNAP debit cards will be turned off, so even if states put their own funds into the program to float people through they won’t be able to access the funds. That’s pretty clear evidence the administration wants people to starve…maybe it’s meant as a pressure campaign to get Democrats to cave (and that may work, Democrats don’t want people to suffer and starve), but it’s a horribly cruel thing to do. Which makes it perfect Republican policy of course, the cruelty is the point.

The ripple effect could be hungry families and pregnant and postpartum parents with fewer resources — including formula in some cases — to keep their babies healthy.

Let us not forget the folks lacking food and a roof over their heads on the Island of Jamaica that was devastated by hurricane Melissa. The island’s infrastructure and power grid were destroyed.
