In other news, and with the moderators forbearance….
Today is my birthday! How old?[1] And I am going to be rude or tacky and ask for presents. Not for me, but for the future.
As many of you know, I lost Camille almost three years ago. And in her memory and to honor her I created the Camille Alexandra Ohlson Endowed Professorship in Spinal Cord Injury Treatment and Cure at the University of Washington Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. And the monies donated thus far are already generating income for research. But I have not met my goal of a fully funded Professorship.[2] So, to continue the fundraising I am asking for a birthday present/donation.
How much? Well, there are three answers.
· As much as you can.
o That makes my fund raising easier and will reach the target faster.
· Whatever amount you are comfortable with.
o I don’t want anyone to be uncomfortable.
· Any amount.
o Any amount that gets another name on the Donor Wall of the Webpage brightens my day.

[2] The goal is $1 million. When I started this project the goal was $500,000. The UW was in the process of raising the amount for a Professorship, and they told me if I raised $500,000 before the new amount went into effect the full Professorship would be funded. I did not reach that date.

The sad truth is that even if a court holds a DOJ lawyer in contempt, enforcement falls back on . . . wait for it . . . DOJ. Any bets on what DOJ will do with such a referral? And then there’s always a pardon. So, by taking away ALL the tools available to rein in administrative law-breaking, the Supremes have left us with, “impeach him, we dare you!”
But, how about referrals to state and D.C. bars for potential ethics violations? The feds can’t touch those outcomes. A few lawyers having their licenses suspended might get some attention.

I am perplexed at the states of mind of republican members of congress, both the house and the senate. They are witnessing the president making death threats about their colleagues who have only made a video restating the LAW ( you know , those things that are the sole purview of the legislature to pass). They are only very mildly pushing back on the president for usurping the power of the purse by letting the executive impose tariffs and make budgetary recisions without authorization from congress. They are standing by while the president invades the sovereign territory of Mexico and allow the DOD to make extra judicial killings in international waters (a violation of international law (which btw is also the law of the USA) and an unauthorized , by congress, act of war) with ZERO evidence of any exigency threat against the USA. They are staying met while the DOJ goes after political enemies with no regard to facts, evidence, due process, or adherence to the rules of judicial procedure. They stay silent as the administration defies court orders. Do they not realize that they are a co equal branch of government and all of this power the are ceding to trump sets precedent for the next president, even a democrat? All of these tactics can be used against them, by trump or future administrations. Was it their career goal to become ass lickers to a venal, morally bankrupt, corrupt, criminal, con man president? I would expect them to, as politicians, to jealously guard their own power. Trump is only as powerful as they allow him to be and he is old as fuck, in bad health and will be dead soon, one way or the other and they will pay the price.
