Gallagher found the late and paltry status reports from the government to be too ticky tacky a violation of her order to warrant criminal contempt
The guy has been dissappeared by the country he was expressly forbidden from being deported to. They lead you on through a circus and willfully misunderstood your orders. They were negligent in communicating with sister agencies to effect your orders.
This is not a legal argument, but seems like one of those times when forces of good could have won the day.
Instead, the government pays no price, and is instead rewarded for their stonewalling.

Judge Stephanie Gallagher essentially held that the government treated her court with contempt, but finding that the government was acting with contempt would be too high a price for the government. I’m sure the government has learned its lesson
