A Brave Trump Takes ‘Strong’ Action To Protect Inanimate Statues

Hmmmmm. I’m old enough to remember …

How soon before we get a no flag burning executive order even though it’s protected “free speech”. Or a Bible burning ban.
I’m sure Trump doesn’t know “flag burning” is free speech according to the SCOTUS. I’m surprised they haven’t cooked up anti flag burning initiatives at the state levels to get the FoxNews crazies out to vote in November.

Time to bring this one back. Maybe to TinyMan Square?

Meanwhile, Putin puts a BOUNTY on American and NATO soldiers killed in Afghanistan. Brave strong Bunker Bonkers Boy says exactly nothing.

Yes, here’s the statutory language (18 USC 65 §1369):

In strictly legal terms, Trump’s “executive order” changes nothing.

But politically:

I believe this is the second “authorization” in the last few days in which Trump presumably “authorized” existing laws to be enforced. I’m reasonably sure the president cannot declare new laws by fiat. So it’s cosplay. A child playing at being a grownup. Except the child is 74.

Quote: A new statue of Comrade Felix Dzerzhinsky, founder of the Cheka , was today unveiled in Kirov, Russia. Comrade Felix Dzerzhinsky was a splendid revolutionary who very much contributed to successfully implementation of the Great October Socialist Revolution by neutralizing the enemy of the revolution in the hard class struggle which followed the revolution. End Quote

Dzerzhinsky resides in the 9th Circle of The Inferno where he will remain for eternity. He’s one of Putin’s models.
His original statue was razed during Glasnost.

Donald Trump feels a kinship to soulless empty replicas of human beings.

Apparently, none of that matters in San Francisco.

Almost 130,000 dead of Covid, and he’s worried about statues.

So would a statue of a President be protected since a President is Commander in Chief?

This one’s well past it’s useby date. It can come down anytime. I think it’s on private land, though.

Aside from being purposefully antagonistic, this one give’s me the creeps. Keep the children away.

ETA/ Also, his horse is ugly too.

Obviously, there’s no law against covering them in excrement. Just follow the lead of the pigeons:

It’s the mentality of the Chinese Cultural Revolution.

Back in the 60s, I heard this young woman applauding some bombing somewhere. I asked, “What about innocent people?”
She replied, “There are no innocent people in a revolution”.
You want Confederate memorials? Put them on private property.

Looks like the horses on Merry Go Rounds when I was a kid. Used to scare the crap out of me. Screw the golden ring - get me off this thing!

One could argue it but I would not hold out much hope. I think we (and courts) know how to distinguish between presidents who have “serv[ed] in the armed forces of the United States” and presidents who have not.

I would love to see our government cast quite a number of these in bronze and install them in font of appropriate towers, motels, clubs and golf courses.

If Trump is defeated in Nov. he will go down in American history as the greatest agent of change.

I think I once rode that horse on a carousel.
