All roads seem to point to acting Secretary McCarthy. And while Capitol Police claim that they had no “actionable” intelligence, but didn’t they know or register the mood of the nation on 01/06?

From my not too deep reading of the hearings and other reporting it seems to me that the commander of the DC NG was not allowed to go help. That this optics fear was real, but then are they covering up who ordered the escalation of the force in the summer during the protests of George Floyd’s killing?

So after a little more coffee and mulling over the Republicans that are trying to shit all over Lt Gen Russell Honore and his proposals have no idea how to provide security for such a large complex, that is normally open to the public, and is focused on preventing this from happening again.
I don’t know or think that increasing the size of the Capitol police is warranted, but obviously the chain of requesting additional help from the DC NG had to be rethought.
Hardening up security measures for retractable fencing, more cameras and the like sounds good.

Oh, they do. They don’t want to have it be impenetrable to the next MAGA round of fun.

Are your contributors suffering from a verb shortage? This stuff is unreadable!

OK final ask,
Why were the House and Senate Republicans OK with being secreted away? Why did not a single one of them try to calm the horde? Did Boebert or MTG’s staff barricade themselves in their respective offices, or did they have access to firearms to protect themselves?

And yet they hide and coward from the MAGA maggots that were there to help the elected quash the election results.

I think a verb is missing: “so far Republicans have blocked the proposal”?

If so, we need to be making a big fuss over this.

I’d like to see that question put to Chris Miller, and then to a variety of Uniformed subordinates.

I’ve only seen it on one video clip and didn’t notice any reference to it in the testimony (if I missed, my apologies) but there are “walls” that come down from the ceiling outside of chambers in the Capitol. But they weren’t activated until the mob was already there and they blocked them from coming down. Kind of a valuable security feature.

  1. Was anyone from the White House in direct contact with the domestic terrorist rioters?

  2. Was any member of Congress in direct contact with terrorists before, during or after the breech? I’m particularly interested in after as that would indicate the rioters were looking for guidance.

Did lawmakers, particularly House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, play a role in security decisions?

It’s a public secret that Nancy, under the influence of George and Hillary, conspired to put her own life in danger so that she could allege seditious conspiracy against the GQP.
The umptie dimensional chess just never ends at the Soros Organization.

After 911, there should have been all kinds of security gizmos installed when the Capitol was closed for renovations a few years ago with most of them being on the outside to stop intruders from gaining access. Why weren’t they immediately activated? Why wasn’t there some sort of a security czar in charge of the property?

It’s bad enough that nobody seemed to have jurisdiction over the grounds and property and that the White House would not respond. But having no one person in charge of possible terrorist operations seems more than a little odd after 911.

Capitol security guards were only there primarily to protect the paintings and vending machines from theft not save lives. Hell, they aren’t even authorized to stop members from pulling guns on each other. The metal detectors are useless if members can walk around them.

Hire a group of parents who have had to deal with the prospect of a school shooting and they will whip this security risk back into shape in no time. They don’t take “no” for an answer from anyone whether it’s politicians or the police.
