A panel of 5th Circuit judges granted the Biden administration’s request for an administrative stay of a widely panned lower court decision that blocked wide swaths of the government from flagging misinformation to the companies that operate social media sites.
Using unusually harsh language, the DOJ wrote that Doughty’s ruling “reflects numerous legal errors” and that its scope is an “abuse of discretion.” It also asked that, at the very least, the relief be constrained to the named parties in the suit so as to not affect the “vast universe of government actions lacking any connection to plaintiffs.”
Typical right wing nonsense, of course, but at some point, SCOTUS will get this case. I don’t think we can have any confidence that the Supremes will find for Biden.
Now, if GQP takes the government again, all bets are off.

Since the “facts alleged” in the actual suit are complete and utter bullshit, the TRO was the only thing that really matters. The plaintiffs filed in this district because they knew they’d get the nutter judge that they got, (he’s the only rat in this particular shit-house).
It was the plan all along to get orange man into the WH so he could appoint judges who didn’t care about democracy and Doughty’s (“a consistently anti-Biden administration judge”) doing just what was expected of him
I think the plan was to get a (any) warm republican body with a pen in his hand in order to nominate whichever judges the Federalist Society fed to him.
I have the feeling the whole right wing judiciary is lousy with billionaire flatterers and all manner of side deals and hustles, with maybe Texas, and the 5th Circuit, the deepest in the mud.
The trouble with rewarding or relying on bombthrowers is that they have as little care for their supporters as they do their enemies. The far right is shitting the bed of all manner of good old Republican scams.

Doughty, a consistently anti-Biden administration judge, had referred to the administration’s attempt to restrict COVID-19 misinformation as “Orwellian” and “dystopian” in his original ruling. He rehashed some of those examples of government “censorship” in his denial of the stay request.
Doughty’s ruling was doubleplusbad.
I’ve forgotten who the other repubs were who were competing with orange man but I do recall Jeb! A wuss in many ways but maybe not so wussy as to roll over and play dead for the Federalist Society. Doughty will, doubtless, reverse his ruling if His Favorite President ™ is reelected and has his DoJ start sending warnings to the SPLC.
