5 Points On FBI Director Wray’s First Congressional Testimony Since Capitol Attack | Talking Points Memo

You mean do they even care…and the answer is obviously no.

But heck, 6.5 is a big number right? I am sure Abbot went with the science on this. I hate to say this, 2021 is not being such as nice a year as I thought it might be.

"But only 6.5% of Texans had been fully vaccinated as of Sunday, though Abbott has been optimistic that the pace will pick up as more vaccines are made available to Texas.

Experts say Texas is a long way from reaching herd immunity. Hitting the 70% to 80% level that many estimate is needed would mean vaccinating some 22 million people, or nearly 100% of adults in the state, according to census numbers. The vaccines are currently not approved for children under 16, who make up about 23% of the population. More than 40,000 people have died in from the virus in Texas since the pandemic began."

My daughters have been going to school in person in Texas since the beginning of the school year. One in junior high, the other in high school and they’re required to wear masks all day long. They’re in Longview, not the big city.

Abbott is like a dipshit neighbor who decides to open up a mini hog farming operation in his backyard and dares the rest of the neighborhood to do anything about it. He’s a common law nuisance.

Yeah, but at the very least, what’s going to happen, especially in big cities, is that Abbott and the GQP will get mad that kids are being told they have to wear a mask, so they’ll try to overrule local governance to say that the schools and towns and school boards can’t force the kids to wear them…can’t make it a rule because freedumb and white power. Once you have people not wearing masks in the schools, might as well be nobody at all wearing masks in the schools.

He’s not a dipshit. Have you seen the covid case numbers collapsing?

Keep on this trajectory, Biden will have a massive success story for his first 100 days.

Unless good Republicans from big places like Texas and Florida step up their game and make sure there is an overall increase in cases and deaths.

Maybe I’m too cynical, but somehow I’m thinking not so much…

Once the GOP allowed a gangster like Trump to come in and norm-destroy, all that was left of the Republican Party was “obtain and maintain power at all costs”.

Norms be damned.

Its a numbers game right? Just numbers. Look, we had that big freeze and we still see people. No biggie. What’s the problem?

This is just jaw dropping stupid. Texas with 2,600,000 plus cases, 2nd highest in the states and yeah, ditch the masks, open everything up, party and get drunk.
Anyone think this is going to turn out well?

This is 100% on the GOP. Trump is like a starter of the Pyramid Scheme

Depends. If you’re a republican trying to run in 2022 on Biden’s failures, trying to keep him from being a success at anything is the imperative, no matter how many of your own have to die for the cause.

No one.

Except that yahoo with his Dodge Ram pickem up truck, heading for the sports bar. Freedom! Lets par-ar-artee! I can see it coming.

When I was a Boy Scout, a pickup was not a Fashion Statement.

It was a rough ride to a campout.

My previously non-political vaccine procurement Slack has just blown up.

The mask mandate is the least of it. All restrictions on businesses are being lifted, that is, full capacity for bars and restaurants. Just in time for Spring Break, yay.

About Texas:

In underdeveloped countries, people are forced to work together…Government is absent, corrupt…etc… Texans, hopefully can–on a local level–avert disaster on this Abbott nonsense.

I would really like to know what Beto is thinking right now.

In case anyone is wondering, 6.5% of the Texas population has been fully vaccinated.

From MPH Daughter re TX

“According to a CDC report I have: 5-10% vaccinated, #11 of states with highest incidence, #1 for positivity, #10 for admitted COVID patients, #9 deaths”

Those stats are gonna get worse.

I have never been a believer in any vehicle being more comfortable than my living room. Yet that seems to be the trend. Me, I would fall asleep with that much comfort. Not good.
