Yes, it was very powerful to hear Ukraine explained. And not only Ukraine’s significance to U.S., regional, and global interests (rule of law, peace, prosperity) but also the very affecting image of Ukraine literally fighting off its bully neighbor Russia (!) while third-rate criminals like Trump, Guiliani, Sondland, Perry et all play grab-ass. Heartbreaking, really. These fuckers need to face real consequences, and all their craven enablers too.

Another important point that the dems hammered was that the State Dept. still hasn’t released any of the notes/memos written by Taylor and Kent that were subpoenaed by the House that documented some of what they said today.

I had heard on both Maddow and O’Donnell the other night, that the aid (both parts, DOD and State) were released in mid-September independent of any decision by Individual 1 – because the lawyers in both of those departments (a) realized it had to be done by end of the Fiscal Year and thus mid-September to get the ball rolling, and (b) their lawyers advised that the POTUS has no legal way to hold back such aid anyway, so it simply should proceed.
Not that this undermines the “Post-WB” idea, but that it was ultimately out of Trump/Mulvaney’s hands. Those guys probably heard the aid was released and claimed “credit” for it.

That leads me to ask, aren’t Ambassadors given any sort of training, security and otherwise, as part of an orientation process before being sent to their destination country?
Moreover, Sondland owns hotels for Pete’s sake. Doesn’t he know how risky public wifi and cellphones are? Just a modicum of common sense would have gone a long way.

The first part of this conspiracy by Trump was to get Ukraine to provide an announcement that they were investigating Biden - Burisma. Thereby casting negative press at Biden and providing Trump rally fodder.
The second part is bigger. Trump would withhold the aid regardless of whether or not Ukraine announced or conducted investigations. Allows Russia (Putin) to make further incursions into Ukraine and ultimately (over time) invade/seize the country. Now, Putin must really be pissed off at Don and Rudy. Will have to wait to see how he shows it.
