Yeah, this pretty much sucks. The GOP Caucus figured out that they can talk down the Slush Fund, but give Trump the slush money through the ICE reconciliation bill with ZERO strings attached.
Another good reason to gut the filibuster and allow future Democratic Congresses to declare that they are not bound by the CORRUPT actions of the past Congress and eliminate ICE as an agency altogether, returning the unspent funds to the Treasury.

The New York Times wrote as if it were a fact that the regime had withdrawn the proposed slush fund, had “promised” (according to the headline) not to proceed with it. But they are missing the point. The Trumpers said they would not go with it now, essentially while it was inconvenient to insist upon it. And a worse part of the proposal, that Trump and family get immunity from tax fraud cases, was carefully not addressed by the regime. Presumably it is still their intention to push it.

No future DoJ is bound by a corrupt agreement Trump makes with this one. The next legitimate DoJ should throw anything THIS DoJ has done regarding Trump out on the first day while firing every new hire Bondi or Blanche or Patel made.
The next AG (Kamala Harris ?) should then reappoint Jack Smith as SC and tell him to proceed with all due haste on investigating and prosecuting the Trump Mar-A-Lago Mafia.

Trump is so weak right now it is hard to believe the Senate fully funded ICE through 2029 just to satisfy him. There has to be something else going on. Is another nexus of power driving the GOP hostility to solving immigration permanently? Who and what is driving the US to actively hurt our own economy by trying to deport more millions than just the undocmented. I have read articles that say the administration wants to kick millions of recent citizens out of the country and the administration is making it harder and harder to become a legal resident and a naturalized citizen. Green cards have recently become harder for H1B holders to obtain.. What are Elon Musk and Gred Bevino talking about when they say they want to deport 100,000,000 people from America? What are they trying to accomplish? Who is the driving group behind this push? Why won’t the press take them serioiusly?
