Related to Trump’s clinical delusion, John Oliver had a bit on Trump insisting Garcia had MS-13 tattooed on his knuckles:
“… if the president of the United States is trying to tell you that this amateur-hour Photoshop is real, let him go get the picture and make him say it again. Point to that Helvetica-looking M and make the president say, ‘Yes, I believe that artless M that’s weirdly clearer and darker than all the other tattoos is real.’
“Make him say, ‘I believe that man went to a tattoo parlor and said the skull’s pretty spooky but what I’d really like is a neatly aligned 3 directly on the bone of my knuckle, and can you please make it so that it doesn’t stretch or bend with the natural curves of the human hand, and also make it look like a typewriter did it?’”
… if he wants to tell America that this laughably doctored picture is evidence of a major threat to American safety, you have an obligation to let the man cook.”
Its smash and grab because when Trump kicks it, they will try to throw all the awful excess into the memory hole with him, call it “in the past” while leaving much of the damage intact.
And isn’t that interesting? The media, not to mention the Democratic Party, were all over Joe Biden. They’re still going at it! Books have already been published!! And yet, the Madness of Would-Be King Donnie® goes unreported and unremarked.
It’s okay for a Republican to be dopey, stupid, foul-mouthed, and inflicting personal vengeance using the power of the Presidency? This is fine? The sane washing must stop! Tell your local rags, radio broadcasters, and teevie outlets!
In addition to the salt water erosion of Alcatraz, the other main reason for the closure of the prison was that the per prisoner costs were 3x that of a landlocked prison.
Trump and DOGE are sending the taxpayers to the poorhouse.
Also by using the Signal app they avoid having to archive any conversations and transferred documents by passing them onto the National Archives, which by law is required of them. Any real business being done by a public servant in a position of power, like a cabinet member or agency Secretary, has to be legally kept for not only posterity but any potential legal means of discovery in court and FOIA requests.
We pay their salaries. They work for us. Therefore their work product belongs to the American people. That work product should not be allowed to delete itself upon a Signal setup for deletion because they wanted to avoid accountability or are trying to hide something damaging to the public. And that’s what they do when they use it again and again. I think they’re all ignoring an order not to do so by the court at this point no matter what its in relation to.
This whole thing is just beautiful. And every day, it seems more and more true. The whole carp with the trade wars and obscene, daily-changing tariffs – clearly, the Miller nosferatu contingent doesn’t care about this “economy” thing; it’s as irrelevant as that “environment” thing. But it keeps the old fool happy and responding to orders – oops, “suggestions” – to implement the real thing.
I listened to the weekend episode of Pod Save America yesterday, featuring Dan Pfeiffer’s interview of Chuck Todd. I almost skipped it, but figured it might be worth listening to some dumb both-sidesing get destroyed by Pfeiffer. But to my total surprise, Chuck Todd turned out to be quite intelligent and decisive. I can only conclude that his Meet The Press schtick was imposed by NBC’s execs. It’s clearly what they wanted, and are getting, out of Welker.
Gym “Reach Around” Jordan mentions “the American people” and “the American taxpayer” everytime he opens his mouth. Not one single person has ever asked him why he was using encrypted apps leading up to the govt. overthrow…to my knowledge. Including his election opponents.
And if so, what do the American people think of him plotting our govt.'s overthrow on the public dime?
There is also the fact that it was clearly demonstrated in 1962 that Alcatraz was not escape-proof. There were the three (Morris and the Anglin brothers) who escaped by building a raft of raincoats and digging through the walls with a spoon, but there is also the case of John Scott, who successfully swam the channel to land on shore near the Golden Gate Bridge. He was captured and returned to the island after treatment for severe hypothermia.
