2022's Midterms Have a Warning for the GOP in 2026

So far, a clear media narrative has emerged from the 2026 midterm election primaries: Trump’s unprecedented reshaping of the Republican Party in his image over the last decade is nearly complete, and his influence remains as strong as ever.  He’s repeatedly succeeded in unseating his political enemies in Congress and in state legislatures. He vanquished…

At some point Republicans that hold office are going to have to understand that Trump will go, or die. And then they’ll have to answer for their lack of backbone.

But I doubt that many of Trump’s lackey Republican politicians think in any longer terms than the next primary that they’ll have to get through. Strategic thinking isn’t their thing.

Oh be still my beating heart, giving me hope.

But I don’t know, the fever of rash stupidity that has taken over the United States may still have more to go. The pile of absolute nonsense is piled so high that I am not sure how long it will take or how arduous it will be for people to unearth themselves.

Hasn’t the First Felon actually taken a bit of a beating with his endorsements of GQP primary candidates where they’ve lost?

I don’t know how he can take any of it as a win….. maybe some, but certainly not overwhelming.

Trump has lost the script.

Trump has always had trouble sticking to the script. For a very few people, going off-script results in works of surpassing genius. Trump’s name, however, does not belong in the same sentence as Robin Williams or Jonathan Winters.

While we all know Trump is delusional, he also does not know what is really going on, he lives the Fox and r/w news bubble which reinforces all his mistakes, ideas and take aways.

Without directly saying the idea was to replace Pride, the governors of Indiana and Tennessee rebranded June as Nuclear Family Month to celebrate units made up of “one husband, one wife and any biological, adopted or fostered children.”1

In Alabama, it’s Strong Families Month, intended to coincide with Father’s Day. Gov. Kay Ivey’s proclamation says fathers are “the head of the household” and “homes led by a father and mother provide children with the structure and discipline necessary to succeed throughout life.”2

The governors of Utah and Arkansas deemed it Fidelity Month, which emphasizes fidelity to faith, country and family — without comment on how those families might be comprised.3

1. I’m surprised Louisiana didn’t “adopt” Nuclear Family Month in honor of Mike Johnson and his underage boy toy adopted son.
2. It is likely dubbed Strong Families Month to also honor the time-honored Southern tradition of inbreeding.
3. Is calling June Fidelity Month is another MAGAt attempt to honor La Mancha de Mierda Naranja.

BTW, am I correct in my guess that “mierda” is the Spanish equivalent of the French “merde”?

Yes, indubitably.

I think you’ll agree that La Mancha de Mierda Naranja seems classier than “Orange Shit Stain” to some.

If Democrats get their shit together what Republicans understand won’t matter. This election is about the rebirth of the Democratic party.

No, Trump hasn’t lost his script: It is and has always been “My, Me, Mine.” Only the details change, the underlying theme abides.

Alternatively, when the time comes (hopefully from natural causes, so the hide is intact), they could send him to a taxidermist. That way they could roll him out, at least for the indefinite but finite future of the Republican Party.

Does this fall into the “If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit?” basket?
