2020 Census Undercounted Hispanic Americans At Triple The Rate Of 2010 | Talking Points Memo

Latinos are subject to both self-evaluation and evaluation by those who are not. How would Nick Fuentes evaluate himself? Enrique Tarrio? Marco Rubio? Ted Cruz? George Zimmerman?

What does this mean?

It means that the counted are influential as well as the counters. It also means, sadly, that racism figures promptly in calculations.

The Founders would have opted for 3/5ths.

The official count of the Hispanic or Latino population was roughly 5% lower than the actual number of Hispanic or Latino Americans living in the country — up from a roughly 1.5% undercount in 2010, according to Census Bureau estimates.

Other minority groups, including Black Americans and American Indian and Alaska Natives living on reservations, were also undercounted by 3.3% and 5.6%, respectively,

On the other hand, the non-Hispanic white and Asian populations were over-counted, according to the Census Bureau.

I’m sure it was just an honest mistake. Right…? RIGHT???

The constitution says that enumeration which means that you count every person. After previous censuses where there were undercounts a number of localities sued to have updated revised counts but were shot down by the courts and previous administrations due to the reading of the text and history even though computer modeling could be used.
In the congressional district where I live every one from the city to the congress member had a all hands on deck approach with everything from census takers going door to door as well as robocalls and got a fairly accurate account. Unfortunately the effort at the state level fell short and the state had a loss of 89 people, thus losing one congressional district.

Yes, too bad. However, weren’t many Hispanics afraid to be counted for fear the Trump administration would deport them? At least, that was being whispered.

Right?

Republicans lost an extra seat in Texas to gerrymander because they caused the undercounting of Hispanic Americans in Texas.

My first thought as well.

So they actually accomplished what they set out to do here. Can you imagine if they’d actually been competent?

Subliminal man says " no conceivable way this can happen… ( Trump and his demented cronies)"

Bingo! This deliberate screw-up could end up backfiring in some gerrymandered districts if the turnout of the undercounted is high.
